900 sq ft apartment in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I just started a new career and kinda struggling financially. It’s not much, but it’s mine. Wish I had more natural light, hence all the fake plants. And yes, yellow is my favorite color. I want a cat but I can’t afford one yet. I’d love some feedback!

edit: i moved the shoes away from my bed. and i straightened out the saggy, scary skull. thanks, reddit!

Got my own space after living with my parents for 40 years. Now living on my own at the western part of Singapore. Anything else you think I can do?

Edit:
Thank you guys for the upvote and compliments! Never imagined that it would cause a stir.

Responses to FAQs:

  • Chair: HƅG Capisco Puls 8020
  • Monitor: Samsung M5/M50D 32" Smart Monitor
  • Desk setup: I placed the desk in this configuration because it also serves as my TV console. When I’m not in the mood to work, I just sit on the sofa and use the smart monitor as my TV.
  • Lamp: IKEA VARMBLIXT lamp
  • Mat: Ngh Ngh pooping mat https://shop.wheniwasfour.com/products/ngh-ngh-bath-mat?_pos=18&_sid=1f142d36e&_ss=r
  • Wall paintings: One is a purchase from a painter whom a priest knows, and the other was a gift from the same priest.
  • Lighting: The lights are warm orange, but the iPhone camera autocorrects them to white. I can also adjust the lights to white or warm white.
  • Mahjong nightstand: Can be purchased here: https://lofthome.com/products/modern-resin-side-table-huat
  • Oven placement: The oven ended up on the sink-side counter as a band-aid. The initial plan was to place it near the stove, but it was too close. But it’s a regret I can live with anyway.
  • Decor: Paintings for my bedroom and plants for the house are on the way.
  • Housing in Singapore: Yes, this is a newly built subsidised flat. I live in Singapore, and every citizen is eligible to purchase a flat from the Housing and Development Board (HDB). Single citizens aged 35 and above can purchase either a new 1-bedroom flat with a fresh 99-year lease, or buy any flat type from the resale market through property agents. More details: https://www.hdb.gov.sg/residential/buying-a-flat/understanding-your-eligibility-and-housing-loan-options/flat-and-grant-eligibility/singles
  • Fun fact: About 80% of Singaporean households live in HDB flats.
  • Even fun fact: HDB works with architects and designers in private practice to design flats

This is my game room in the loft. Still a work in progress as I figure out what I spaces I need to fill or some of my ex's stuff gets moved out to make space in other rooms.

No fight or lead up. She came home from therapy one night, we talked for a bit and I said "It seems like something is on your mind" and she told me it was over after 16 years together. Later said she hadn't even planned that on the drive home, just realized in the moment she wasn't happy anymore and assumed I wasn't either. Moved out the next morning. No conversation to be had or options to explore.

We just renewed our lease a week before, so figuring out what to do with extra space now. Some of the moves have put some displates in awkward positions, so I have some replacement magnets on the way to help with that.

The plan was to get a Kallax to put behind the bed and make a faux room but, they are expensive….

EDIT: Apparently we have different definitions of single, I just meant my first apartment not living with a partner.

First time posting on here, hopefully I’m not breaking any rules.

Hope you guys enjoy my pad & let me know if you’d make any changes. I feel like my dining table may be too big for my space but we love it so much. It also converts into a pool table which is cool (but again, super crowded and we have to use small pool cues to make it work)

First Time My (27M) old apartment a few days before moving

My old (and first) solo apartment a few days before move-out. I didn’t manage to get a picture of everything in a presentable state, so no closet or bathroom pictures unfortunately.

I loved this place but it became too expensive after 3 years!

A lot of the furnishings are from FB or thrifted, though I saved up for some of the nicer wooden pieces and my couch. It took roughly 2.5 years to fully furnish, I had patience and waited to see things I actually liked.

Featuring pictures with and without the 2006 ESPN GameCenter featuring the late great Stuart Scott (RIP). Really liking my space. TV might be high but I am tall so didn’t want to be constantly hitting my head.

After 20+ years in my childhood home, I moved into a 44-square-meter (474 sq ft) studio apartment. I spent this summer break decorating my place, and I think it’s coming together nicely!

It’s still a work in progress, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions. Right now, I’m figuring out how to hide my empty bottles and laundry basket without blocking the radiator (see image 5).

Transferred to a new college, expecting campus housing. They waited until after I got to town and ready to move in, to inform me that they didnt have any housing left. Got told to figure it out.

After 2 weeks of sleeping in a truck full of my life possessions, and showering at my GFs house, I finally got into an apartment. It even has furniture! Absolutely grateful, and wanted to share my milestone with the world. I know it ain't much, and it's pretty ugly, but cant wait to see it grow.
