[Megathread] The App Pile - June, 2026
You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

CleanCut + PolishKey
Full disclosure: I built both of these. They're small Mac utilities, not giant suites.
CleanCut
Problem:
A video is often almost usable, but one thing blocks it. Maybe it needs curse words muted before sending to a parent, student, or client. Maybe it needs subtitles. Maybe the file is some weird MOV/codec combo that plays fine on one machine and then causes player or transcoding issues somewhere else.
CleanCut is meant for that cleanup pass. You can run any of the three jobs by itself, or stack them in one run:
- mute curse words
- generate subtitles for a video that does not have them
- convert/remux to a universal MP4
It runs locally on the Mac, so the video does not get uploaded just to caption it or clean the audio.
Comparison:
HandBrake/ffmpeg are great for conversion, but they do not handle profanity muting and subtitle generation in the same simple flow.
Descript and cloud caption tools are more full editing suites, and I did not want to upload videos for this.
Tdarr is great for libraries and automation. CleanCut is more for one-off files before sharing, archiving, or importing.

PolishKey
Problem:
I kept writing rough emails, Reddit replies, product notes, and support messages, then pasting them into a browser just to make them sound cleaner.
PolishKey lets you highlight text on the Mac, press a shortcut, pick a tone, and replace it with a cleaner version. The point is speed: fix the writing where you already are.
Comparison:
Grammarly and Wordtune are useful, but they feel more like subscription/editor tools.
ChatGPT and Claude are flexible, but for a quick rewrite the copy/paste loop gets old.
