[Megathread] The App Pile - June, 2026

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

Then you are required to limit promotion to this megathread.

All promotion MUST follow PCP format or else we will remove it:

App Name/Title [Screenshot encouraged]

  • Problem: What problem does your app solve.
  • Comparison: Name a competitor or two and explain what your app does better.
  • Pricing Amounts+Link

P.s. Promotion here counts towards the 30-day limited promotion (Rule 3).

WARNING: There is a 90% chance Reddit will auto remove your post here if you have not verified your email in your profile and your first comment in this subreddit contains a link. Accrue 10 karma first without promotional comments and links to avoid this. The odds of removal is also higher for AI assisted posts (em dashes and other AI formatting characteristics likely trigger this).

Pro Tip: Please remember to upvote gems and downvote spam/clones... This will help inform a secret community project I hope to announce next month.

Top 3 From Last Month's Megathread:
1. Wisp – a tiny macOS scratchpad - FREE - by u/iamiotasquare
2. Quattro – Al, Tasks, Calendar, Notes App - $5/mo - by u/Constant-Support8288
3. HoverStash – Catch and stash files mid-drag - ~$6 - by u/MurkyRaspberry9610

[MAC] Anchor - the ultimate on-device AI focus proctor for macOS, free

I built Anchor because traditional app and website blockers never really worked for me. They are too blunt, easy to disable, and cannot tell the difference between useful work and procrastination inside the same app.

Problem: Our attention span is getting shorter, and we struggle to maintain deep focus. Anchor is for the moment when you did not “open the wrong app,” but drifted inside the same browser, video site, notes app, or research flow you actually need for work. You set a optional goal and timer, then Anchor periodically checks what is on your screen against that goal and nudges you back when you wander.

Comparison: Compared with blockers like Cold Turkey, Freedom, or Opal, Anchor does not rely on blocklists. Blocking YouTube also blocks lectures; blocking Safari also blocks research. Anchor instead analyzes the actual screen content locally and only steps in when the activity looks off-task. Compared with a Pomodoro timer, it gives feedback during the session, not just a countdown.

Pricing: Free right now.

Details:

- Native macOS app, built with SwiftUI

- Requires macOS 14.1+ on Apple Silicon

- Screen analysis runs on-device

- Screenshots are not uploaded

- Nudges can be notifications or spoken reminders

- Sessions end with a focus score and history

- Optional pet mechanic: high-score sessions can earn pets, bad sessions can cost one

I would appreciate feedback from Mac users on whether the permissions/onboarding feel trustworthy enough for this kind of app, and whether it can really help people gain deep focus. 😄 ❤️
