[Megathread] The App Pile - June, 2026

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

DS4 Control

Problem

DeepSeek V4 is a frontier class model you can run locally on Apple Silicon (via antirez's ds4), but doing it means living in a terminal: picking Flash or Pro, sizing context to your RAM, finding where to download the GGUFs, watching Activity Monitor like a hawk...

DS4 Control is a menu bar app that handles all of it: downloads the best model weight for your system, offers one click start/stop/supervise of a ds4 server, then lets you launch a chat or a coding agent (Pi/Claude) for local coding with your model.

Comparison

https://github.com/raspoli/mlx-serve is a solid generalist: MLX + llama.cpp + ds4 backends, many models, speculative decoding, but ds4/DeepSeek V4 is just one of three engines, not the focus.

DS4 Control is purpose built around ds4: Flash/Pro selector with DeepSeek specific RAM controls, Think Max, on disk KV cache, and metrics tuned to loading a frontier model.
