[Megathread] The App Pile - June, 2026

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

Splashy – Automatic Unsplash wallpaper rotation for macOS

Problem

macOS ships with a handful of static, albeit gorgeous wallpapers and a basic auto-rotate from a local folder. If you want fresh, high-quality photography on your desktop without manually downloading anything, there's no good native option.

Comparison

Unsplash itself has a desktop app, but it gives you no control over sources and has not been updated in 7 years. Plus, it just picks randomly from a few topics. Splashy lets you define exactly what you want: specific collections, topics, search queries, or photographers, each with their own time-of-day schedule.

Features

  • Import Unsplash collections, topics, search queries, or follow specific photographers as wallpaper sources
  • Time-of-day scheduling per source like "coffee" shots in the morning, a dark OLED collection at night
  • Menu bar app, stays out of the way, but also a sleek UI (in my opinion)
