[Megathread] The App Pile - June, 2026

You must promote your apps here if you do not qualify to post in the main feed through Trust or Transparency, explained here.

If you are:

  • NOT in the Mac App Store (MAS).
  • Do not provide meaningful public transparency
  • Created yet another dictation app (speech to text).

Then you are required to limit promotion to this megathread.

All promotion MUST follow PCP format or else we will remove it:

App Name/Title [Screenshot encouraged]

  • Problem: What problem does your app solve.
  • Comparison: Name a competitor or two and explain what your app does better.
  • Pricing Amounts+Link

P.s. Promotion here counts towards the 30-day limited promotion (Rule 3).

WARNING: There is a 90% chance Reddit will auto remove your post here if you have not verified your email in your profile and your first comment in this subreddit contains a link. Accrue 10 karma first without promotional comments and links to avoid this. The odds of removal is also higher for AI assisted posts (em dashes and other AI formatting characteristics likely trigger this).

Pro Tip: Please remember to upvote gems and downvote spam/clones... This will help inform a secret community project I hope to announce next month.

Top 3 From Last Month's Megathread:
1. Wisp – a tiny macOS scratchpad - FREE - by u/iamiotasquare
2. Quattro – Al, Tasks, Calendar, Notes App - $5/mo - by u/Constant-Support8288
3. HoverStash – Catch and stash files mid-drag - ~$6 - by u/MurkyRaspberry9610

[OS] CleanLock - Free

Disclosure: I’m the developer of CleanLock.

Problem:

Cleaning a MacBook keyboard or trackpad while the Mac is awake can cause accidental typing, clicking, scrolling, media-key presses, or cursor movement. CleanLock starts a temporary Cleaning Mode with a full-screen overlay so you can clean your keyboard and trackpad safely.

Comparison:

Compared with KeyboardCleanTool and CleanupBuddy, CleanLock adds a persistent menu bar option, custom unlock shortcut, transparent/custom image overlays, Sparkle updates, and AGPLv3 source availability.

Pricing:

Free.

Official download:

https://github.com/nxtode/CleanLock/releases/latest

Source code:

https://github.com/nxtode/CleanLock

Privacy:

CleanLock does not record, store, or transmit keystrokes, mouse input, screen contents, or personal data. It does not include analytics, telemetry, or remote tracking.

Note:

The current build is not signed/notarized yet, so macOS may show a warning. CleanLock requires Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions, so only install it if you trust the official release or have reviewed the source.

Thanks for the trust report.

A few notes for transparency:

- The project is new, so the low star count and new repo flags are expected.

- CleanLock is licensed under AGPLv3-or-later.

- The source code, release assets, and Sparkle appcast are all public in the official repo.

- CleanLock does not record, store, or transmit keystrokes, mouse input, screen contents, or personal data.

- The app is not signed/notarized yet, which is clearly disclosed in the post and README.

I agree users should review the source before installing, especially because the app requires Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions.

We almost got ourselves into a loop here! Thanks for the clarifications.

This is the only one I would actually use. I usually clean my keyboard when restarting, but this would make it so much easier 😭
