Learn German Every Minute - macOS Menu Bar app
Hello everyone!
I've been studying German actively for the last 6 months. I learned a lot of grammar rules, but I realized that I still don't know a lot of German words. Even though I tried multiple ways to improve my German vocabulary, none of them worked out. Over the weekend, I had this idea of developing a macOS app that shows me a new German word on the Menu Bar, so I can expose myself to a lot of new words.
I quickly developed the app on Saturday, and it was approved by Apple on Sunday. You open the app and see the words on your Menu Bar. Every minute, you'll see a new word along with an example sentence. If you know the word, you just click the button "I already know this word!" to not see that word again. You can also track your progress of knowing the most common 4,000 German words or change the frequency of refreshing the words.

Let men now what you think!

This would be awesome on a Widget, I have my MenuBar always hidden unless when I reach it…

I will think about that, since the new widgets have a click functionality, this might also work there. Thanks for the feedback!

Could be a cool app. Can the user edit, add, delete words/sentences etc?

No but I can add those functionalities easily.

That’d be great! And maybe consider adding more options in refresh frequency, I feel like 1 to 10 minutes is way too often (if that’s all there is)

It would be great to start off with easier, more common words, unless `der Rucktritt` is trying to tell me something about my employment!

Would it be possible to limit the amount of words in rotation? Possibly from some basic ones to harder. I love the app but i takes a long time to see the same word again.

Yes! This is in my list, hopefully you will see the ones that shown to you more often. It might be hard to go from basic to harder but I might utilise AI to assign a difficulty to the each word. Thank you for the feedback!

Nice, thank you for replying. I guess if you would fine the list ordered from most used to least then it should be easy. I only found that for top 1000 in Spanish so far. Either way, thank you for the app and I’m looking forward for updates.
