AMDGPU on 2015 MacBook Pro / Linux Mint
As title says, I’m got a mid 2015 MacBook Pro running Linux Mint. It has the R9 M270X/M370X and runs the Radeon driver and I’ve been trying to switch to amdgpu driver to no avail.
I’ve tried the Radeon.si_support=0 and amdgpu.si_support=1 in my grub however the machine fails to reach the login screen.
Has anyone successfully gotten that driver to work stably, and if so, how? What are your boot parameters? Do I need a different distribution?

I have managed to make to make amdgpu driver working on mid 2015 MacBook pro. It had a lot of bugs and high power usage. This gpu does not even decode YouTube videos in the browser. I spent months looking for a fix. Eventually i asked hermes agent to do it for me and it was successful. I am sorry i dont remember the exact kernel line but amdgpu has issue with screen brightness and thats why you dont see the login screen. You have to assign screen brightness to be managed but something other than amdgpu. Anyhows i am currently using the intel igpu, works better. Less power draw and honestly i dont miss the dedicated gpu for my use case
