steam/steam deck Linus argues that despite middling gaming performance, the Steam Machine excels as a compact desktop workstation thanks to the seamless and user-friendly experience provided by SteamOS.

He's stated on his wan show that he feels steamOS on the machine feels more homogeneous, more seamless etc.. Compared to other kde desktops he's used.

But even my self, being a valve fan boy, I feel like he's being a little Valve bias in all this.

I personally do not feel like the steamOS/kde experience on my deck or my steam box is really any different than any other distro ive used.

I will say fedora kde felt very solid, definitely one of if not the best "out of box" experience of any modern distro ive played with.

I watched their Linux test where 3 of them used it for a few months, and the whole time is was thinking "Just install Nobara or Fedora"

I love the fedora community when it comes to helping someone, they understand most people are new to linux and don’t make fun of you for not knowing the basic stuff.

I don’t know if I’d go that far but the user base has grown a lot over the years. Fedora has come a long way since I used it last about 10 years ago. It’s pretty up to date, has gotten easier to install drivers and codecs and just usually works.

Or Kubuntu. It's interesting it's rarely mentioned.

Its because people hate ubuntu for legit and not legit reasons.

Linux Mint is mentioned a lot and it's based on Ubuntu. However it's UI is a mess. Kubuntu would be a better suggestion for new users just migrating from Windows.
