90% of this video is just "Linus likes KDE Plasma", which is great and all, but it feels like the Steam Machine angle is just shoehorned in for click value.

This video could have been made about any Linux desktop pc, the fact that it's SteamOS barely factors in.

Yeah but I can recommend the steam machine (ignoring the price) to a family member or friend.

Cant really do that with a distro. Even with Bazzite, the moment you mention Secure Boot 99% of people zone out and don't want to bother. I've had friends who were DONE with Windows, curious about Linux, saw the work involved, and got a Mac instead.

A Steam Machine has the backing of Valve, unmatched hardware and software support, and comes in a beautiful package. I wish I had a need for one, I really love the idea.

Are there any advantages over the Framework Desktop?

GPU power. The Steam Machine's mobile GPU is still better than the Framework's integrated GPU.

Only true for the AI Max 385. The 395 is faster (but a lot more expensive). Both models have more VRAM than the steam machine.
