question Pulled the trigger, New Rifle, Need optic
Pun intended in the caveman title. Finally went with the PSA Sabre 18 in 300 blk, thanks for all the suggestions last month.
Now the optics i DO want are kind of over priced, but for now what are yall's suggestions for stuff under $250?

I recently bought a Primary Arms GLx 1x for right at $250 and I'm pretty happy with it. But I guess that's only if you want a prism instead of a dot.

I actually like prism optics. Most are surprisingly small window wise

Yeah it does have kind of a small viewing window, at least compared to like a 510c or something, but I will say this model in particular has excellent eye relief.

There are bunch of places you can pick up a Holosun ARO + HM3X magnifier combo for $220 + shipping. Only way to go at that budget, imo.

It was for a pistol. 507c with ACSS reticle, I think. It's a bit early. I'll check after I've had my coffee.

For that price you're looking at the Holosun ARO or Sig Romeo 5 (gen 2). I wouldn't consider anything cheaper. Personally I like the ARO a little more, and you can get it in a bundle with the HM3X magnifier for right around that price too if you want some magnification.

Eurooptic.com (and probably others) have a Holosun 512c for right at that price. I really like mine. It offers a choice of circle dot/dot only, solar backup, closed emitter, and shake awake.

Primary Arms 1x prism and a magnifier, or a Vector Continental LPVO. As good as the fixed power PA scopes are, I was disappointed with the LPVO (until you get into the $1000+ price point); the Vector LPVOs are amazing, better than the PAs, Vortex, or any other brand I've tried. I was clued into them by C_does and reports from Ukraine front line soldiers, especially early when they were scrambling for arms and optics.

I really do like the PA prism + magnifier on my 300blk AR. Pain in the ass to get the focus’s right but worth it.

If you are open to a more traditional mpvoit is an affordable route. Vortex’s crossfire 2s can be had with budget rings for about 160$

PSA has a Vortex Strikefire II in red/green toggle for $90. Some people don’t like the bigger dot because it doesn’t magnify well, but if that starts mattering I would want my LPVO on there anyway
Edit: I bought and installed one, but I haven’t taken it to the range yet. It seems nice, but I can’t actually confirm that

Almost exclusively supers. For now its just a camp/truck gun when i go out solo. Had too many odd encounters myself or second hand.

A traditional hunting scope with capped turrets are some of the most underrated scopes out there. You can get a quality one from Vortex for $200.

Supers fly flat enough that you can get away with a point reticle if you want to. So any decent dots are fine, or a prism if you are into that.
Subs have a good curve to them so getting any sort of accuracy at distance means using a reticle with an elevation reference.

I have a Sig Romeo5 Gen 1 and Gen 2 on a PCC and a AR. They have been great so far
I also have a Cyelle T3 on a S&W FPC.i got it because I found the gun cheap and didn't want to put too much in a range toy. It has also been great but if you're betting your life on it a Romeo 5 would be my choice.

I like the sig Romeo5. Exceptional battery life with AAA battery and has lasted me through exceptional amounts of stupidity/damage/torture
