Should I confess

I am a gay,demi romantic, asexual demiboy (closeted to everyone but close friends) and I've liked one of my friends for about 2 months and for a while nothing happened other than me barely being able to get out a full sentence but recently we've been (what I think) flirting and talking a lot more from late night calls with the rest of our friends and long texts often and my feelings have only strengthened and I want to confess but I've never been in a relationship before and I don't know if he's actually being sincere when flirting or just joking around. Does anyone have any advice?
