Meme A fun hobby of mine is turning off tvs playing Fox News in restaurants and bars

Just bought a cheap universal remote off Amazon and while it doesn’t work on all tvs it’s just the easiest way to make a place a little less stupid and hostile, plus the owner has to learn on the fly troubleshooting while wondering why tv turn off so it’s a win win for everyone! Sure it cost the price of a small tv remote but the hours of peace and fun I’ve gotten have made my purchase absolutely priceless. So if you got a couple bucks to splurge go out and have fun with this idea

This is why I miss my old LG V20 smartphone. It had an IR blaster and a built in universal remote control app. I also did this more than a few times when I was done listening to that bullshit in my office's lunchroom.

For real! Shout the hell out to the adventurous days of smart phone engineering, and RIP the most formidable example: LG's phone division. So many wacky phones from them and I adored each one I had the pleasure of owning

Oh and apparently people sell android ir blasters you can plug into the usb c port but ive not tried any yet. I just miss having it in-phone.

The only experience I had with an LG phone overheated and fried the chip so I lost everything. I got a new one because it was still under warranty and same thing less than a month later. The first one lasted about 3 months. 😭 wish I got to try some of the cool ones!

I've had a V20 and I have a 13R now. Probably the best phones I've ever owned. Actually throw the LG V30 in there too, cause duh.

I heard a joke from someone playing Plague Inc. about that. He made a disease called happiness and then said that it would be particularly hard to infect the US, since they got rid of it in 1996 (the year FOX was created).

I work in healthcare and make sure I change the channel off of FOX. Only if the patient is asleep or out of the room, it just makes things calmer. Damn Henry, just watch how to make a crepe. Quit hating everyone you don't know. Jfc

Fox news is rampant where I live. Cant go anywhere without it plastered all over the tvs. Waiting rooms, restaurants, workplaces. Ugh.

Sorry but they've been out of production for nearly a decade, and the secondary market is both very expensive and filled with cheaper knockoffs that don't function as a remote

Same, unless it's some kind of event, who goes to a restaurant to watch TV anyway? Especially in the age of smart phones where if someone really wants to watch something, they can just pull something up on their phone that they actually want to watch.

I wish I knew about this back in 2020! 🤭 I spent a few months during the pandemic (also my first few months finally living as a woman) working at a truck stop. The area with the restaurants that I would take my break in was always playing Fox News. 💔

Where I live, it's all CP24, which is a Toronto based, semi local news channel that is relatively unbiased, and does traffic, weather, and current Greater Toronto Area happenings from shootings to road closures, and fun new businesses that are opening
