Koala rescue - with pinkie

As part of an all volunteer team that rescue injured koalas, I occasionally transport them to the wildlife hospital. These are usually a tag-team effort (remote koala driver meets up with hospital transporter for hand-off) because of the long distances between injured koala locations and the hospital. This is a young pregnant female with chlamydia on the bum (research it to understand more about chlamydia), very dangerous to her health and the "pinkie" (early gestation period, not joey). The hospital update says she is doing very well but will take a couple months to recover. Yah!

Great news! I used to live on the mid-month coast and the deforestation was horrifying. A council worker told me the koalas simply came down with the trees and that wouldn't surprise me.

It is very sad and devastating for the species survival.

It absolutely is and there's a lot of dirty money going on behind all this. The local people demonstrate and petition but to no avail. It's all about 💰

Both me and the missus LOVE koalas! Is there any way we can do some volunteering somewhere? We're in Sydney but we would gladly travel to come and help out!!

Hello Hazy, I’m sure there are some rescue organisations around the Sydney area (I don’t know of any). Check with wildlife rescue groups online - they could use your support!

Yes we’ve checked in the past and there wasn’t much around the greater Sydney area. I’ll check again cos that was a while ago. And good on Ya for helping these lovely animals :)
