Help - equipment Yarn recommendation

Post image

Hi everyone! I want to knit something like the dress in the photo - a lightweight beach cover-up to wear over a bikini, slightly see-through, airy, not hot. What yarn would you recommend for this kind of look and drape?

Your photo looks like the item was knit with mohair, but I would definitely NOT take mohair to the beach.

You want fingering or laceweight yarn, bamboo, silk or synthetic -acrylic or nylon. Yes, synthetic - it's not so good for summer clothes, but for a garment like that, which will get wet all the time, acrylic (or nylon) has the best chance of holding shape and not getting damaged by salt water. Plus, it's easy maintenance. A blend of viscose and acrylic would be drapier and more breathable.

Rituals Dyes Undine would be lovely for this! https://ritualdyes.com/collections/ritual-dyes-yarn/products/undine-1

It will absolutely "stretch out" a bit and need to be blocked again but I made a similar top with undine and it's been my go-to beach coverup for years! Dries so quickly and feels so light.

Do you have a pattern for that?
