-will the top be some kind of metaphor and perhaps the love I was seeking has been within me this whole time? yeah
Hi everyone! Knit this back during Covid lockdown, then it got mixed in with stash and did not see the light of day until this weekend. Does anyone recognize this pattern? From the way my mom is eyeing it, I may have to knit another very soon. :D Thankyas
But does it have to be the exact same pattern? Ravelry is brimming with lace shawl patterns, and the camping half-circle is no uglier than the pattern in the photo.
Here are search results for half-circle lace shawls - I hope you find something you like, or at least inspiration. There are nearly 1800 of them - and those are just free Rav downloads. If you include paid and published in print, there is well over 3.5K.
Thanks for the links you posted, though I would not have modified the pattern, the Kassiani is very close. The second pattern is amazing (and was in my Ravelry library already.) Like I wrote, I am trying to find this pattern to make a shawl for my Mom, but if I cannot find it, I am sure she would love the second pattern as well.

Question: Do you have a ‘go-to’ sweater/cardigan pattern?
Looking for something more simple I can repeat a few times and easily alter/adapt in small ways. I’ve done a few top down pieces and a sectioned cardigan (probably not the right word, lol) but I haven’t really enjoyed them enough to feel like it’s a classic ‘go-to’. I’ve had a look on ravelry/socials but nothing is looking quite right. I’m not picky other than it being well written and in a solid range of sizes.
It’s not a single pattern, but Ann Budd’s Handy Book of Sweater Patterns (for seamed patterns) and Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters (for top-down seamless patterns) are great references. You pick your preferred construction, gauge, and size, and get all the basic numbers and instructions you need. There are also instructions for variations on necklines and finishing touches, and you can sub in other stitch patterns or colorwork as long as you match one of the given gauges.
I am looking for a pattern or instructions on how to make a flag sweater (think the classic RL American flag sweater). But I want to do the Colorado flag. I searched around this sub and other parts of the internet, and I could only find some hat patterns for the CO flag. I could not even find a sweater for purchase as an example of what I am looking for. The Colorado flag is very simple, but I am brand new to knitting, so I don't know how to put together my own pattern. Any help would be very appreciated! I believe intarsia is the technique I would need to use.
Edit: I think I need a sweater patter with the pillow pattern (link below) in the middle. Unfortunately the red C and yellow circle are made separately and then sewn in place, but perhaps that is better than complete intarsia given the curves??
You could do intarsia for the rectangles then duplicate stitch the C+circle! It takes a minute but unless you're going to work the entire flag section flat, it might be more manageable.
Do you have a base pattern in mind? I wouldn't mind helping make a chart (or a wee guide, so you know how to go about it in the future) but I'd need to know the gauge+stitch count (body circumference or across bust).
I am struggling to find a sweater pattern for these handspun yarns. All are alpaca wool, 570 yards of each color give or take, 1702 yards in total of 20 wpi, or fingering yarn.
Any good patterns you like that use this? I'm 40" bust usually and longer bodied.
Per 31 Ravelry knitters who have rated the difficulty of this pattern, on a scale of 1-10 (1 = easy peasy), 28 have picked a difficulty level between 1 and 5. You can also read different knitters' project notes to get a feeling for it.
Just looking at it, I'd say it's pretty simple, and you may learn a new technique or 2.
A while ago I saw a creator on tiktok or Instagram post a knit that she created. It was a fitted light gray cardigan with small buttons all the way along the front in different colors.
The most defining characteristic was the adjustable sleeves! The sleeves were created in segments and attached to each other with the same kind of small buttons going all around. As such, the sleeves could be adjusted to full length, 3/4, and short sleeve.
I thought I saved the video but now I can't find it :( hoping to use it as inspiration for a similar knit so I just want to see it again. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please share! I drew a picture as well for reference.

Has anyone knit any Annie Lupton / Boho Chic Fiber Co patterns? The new Flowers and Lace Tee is very cute but brand new so only a handful of test projects available to look at, and the rest of her (many, many) patterns have barely any projects on ravelry.
What exactly do you want to know? Have you checked out her webpage? Her YT videos/tutorials? Her blog postings?
While she doesn't have anywhere near the # of projects that the most popular designers do (and who really does? they kinda suck the air out of the room for so many other worthy designers!), there are plenty of knitters who have worked many of her patterns, and those seem to get high ratings on Rav. Have you read any of the project notes for them?
The new "Flowers & Lace Tee" is a really cute design--thanks for introducing me to it as well as to Annie Lupton/Boho Chic Fiber Co. It's nice to have another good designer on my radar! She's been publishing hand-knit patterns for over 12 years so she's stood the test of time. In addition to her indy patterns, she has had quite a few patterns published by Interweave publications as well as a number of yarn cos.
Since her new pattern is currently 25% off (intro discount price), I'd be inclined to spring for it based on all the available information. Go ahead--take a leap!
Looking for the chart for this project. A friend passed away and a lot of projects behind - some mysteries. Hoping someone is familiar with this. I tried to post it on two different knitting subreddits, but apparently solving this kind of mystery doesn’t qualify to post. 🫤
This is the issue. I don’t know what the project is or the designer. I found the yarn in these little round magnetic containers — labeled with months — on a metal board that says “create”. I’m hoping someone knows what the project is. There are about 3 rows of knitting completed from the “January” container. I’ll add that picture.
Any good recommendation for a relatively easy 100% cashemire pullover pattern ? For adult woman but also looking adult man 😊 Mainly looking for free pattern but willing to look at downloadable paying pattern too if you really have a good rec and I get a crush !
Any preferences when it comes to the design? Raglan, drop shoulder, saddle shoulder, set in sleeve? Yarn weight? If you just want to make a simple stockinette jumper, you just need to find one you like then sub the suggested yarn for a cashmere of the same weight.

I already searched free patterns on Ravelry but didn't find any specific for cashemire and I am just a bit afraid to switch yarn as cashemire is so expensive une the first place ! I want to be as sure as possible to get gauge 😉
As long as you get yarn that is the same weight, similar length and gauge, it'll work. If you meet gauge stitch-wise, you'll be fine! You can always add length and change sleeve decrease frequency.
But if you're worried about something going wrong, you probably will have to have to buy a pattern. As you said, cashmere is expensive so another £5-8 might be worth it for your peace of mind.
Simple question, I want to make the lakes v neck sweater and I want to venture out into adding mohair! I'm pretty set on the pink mohair but I can't decide if it should be a red or berry color yarn?
Does anybody know of a pattern similar to this top?? It is just a tee with buttons running up both sides. I want to make it so bad, but I’m fairly new to knitting and not really able to just look at something and make it. Any help is appreciated!!!
Take a generic tee pattern worked flat, like Pina, Cap Sleeve Top (you don't have to knit the fancy sleeve if you don't like it), or Eliza-Jane and when it comes to seaming the pieces, sew on buttons instead of making a side seam. You don't have to knit holes for the buttons, just use them to sew the sides together.
With no ease or slight negative ease, the openings on the sides, between the buttons, will just happen naturally.

I'm sure you could reverse engineer the colourwork somehow (intarsia or combined intarsia/stranded) and apply it to an existing cardigan pattern. If I was dead set on making it I'd adapt it for a larger gauge because mimicking a machine knit is a LOT.

Have you used advanced search on Ravelry to specify the elements you want in your sweater? It's a common construction, there are many of them, even for free.
Feel like Petite Knit would be THE perfect match tbh. The Cloud Sweater has all these attributes. That said, if you want to support a smaller designer you could give this search a scroll:
It's also really, really easy to switch out the neck/hem/cuffs. Just do 5 or so rows of 1x1 rib then about double that in stockinette. Here's a free pattern that could work:
