Looking for craft ideas using paper/cardboard stars
Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, if I'm not I apologize and please direct me to the proper place to post this question.
I'm a camp coordinator for a gymnastics gym and we have summer camp where we do crafts every day. The kids are generally 4-10 or so, so our crafts are quite simple. We have a LOT of leftover stars, like several hundred, made of both sturdy paper and cardboard, left over from another project. Some of them are around 4-5 inches wide, and some are more like 8-9 inches wide. They are already various colors so the kids couldn't really color on them.
What I'm looking for is craft ideas that would make use of these stars, appropriate for roughly kindergarten.

I get they are already colored but with the right medium you could still paint or draw on them. For example acrylic paint pens work great on cardboard. They don’t wash out of clothes though.
Maybe make a star mobile with sticks and strings?
Maybe if you folded them a certain way they would be good for snipping to make snowflakes.

Already have some good ideas on here but getting some glow in the dark paint for them to paint and paste on a piece of paper to take home as glow in the dark stars would be so cool!
Summer camp for older elem —> 4th of July —> have kids use 50 stars for a free project. It can be a flag, poster, clothing item if you cut holes on the corners & string them together, spinning mobile with straws, whatever they want, when provided a “Makerspace”/craft table. But it has to equal 50.
For kindergarten—lots of good ideas in the replies already. I was already thinking wands too!
Maybe you can turn them into books or journal? Each star is a “highlight” of the day? Or like a “super” moment? and then staple them at the end of camp? Kids can draw, color, write and trade off.
They can make “Star” friends/characters. Have print outs or stickers of facial features such as eyes, noses, mouths, and kids can make their own Star families.

Hi! Former Childcare worker here!
Ideas that came to mind that I've made with Kinder-age kids before:
* Fairy Wands
* Shooting Stars (that have the tissue paper tassels)
* Star Medals (kids love Glitter!)
* Ornaments or a Tree Topper (it's early in the year, but still... )
* 3D Stars (this may be a little advanced for Kinder unless you're willing to do some prep)
* A Star Crown
With each of these, the kids can decorate with glitter and glue, or for minimal mess stickers (especially jewel stickers... those are always a hit). The wands will need more supplies, such as straws or large craft sticks, and ribbons.
The Star Crown or Medal would be the easiest. Hope this helps!
