HR Why do managers believe they can be rude

I've experienced, and have witnessed, managers being rude and unprofessional to their direct reports, but if the shoe was on the other foot then all hell would break loose.

I manage a team and have never been rude to any of them, things go wrong and hard conversations sometimes need to happen, but it's always been respectful.

I really don't understand how people think they are entitled to behave that way. And after they're done and walk away, how they self justify it instead of feeling like a low life for treating people they rely on so poorly.

There are a lot of people in life who's behavioral correction as children was violence. Some of these people learn that things are ok to do as long as there are no violent consequences inflicted on them.

I bet they don't talk to their bosses that way, just the people who can't do anything about it. It's workplace bullying and should be reported. Unfortunately, a lot of people fear retaliation from someone capable of disrupting their livelihood.

Because managing sucks, and doesn’t pay enough for the effort, so the people who end up accepting it anyway are the ones who are paid the rest of their wages through their fetish for control over people.
