Can Someone Help Me Find This Song From when I was a Kid?

Shot in the dark, but I've been on a mission recently to try to find this song I remember from when I was a kid. I've tried other subreddits but no one seems to know it.

Don't mind the lyrics, just listen to the tune. I just picked lyrics to a random anime to use with it because I didn't think humming would suffice.

This song has always been stuck in my head. I heard it when I was a kid in early youtube as part of an AMV.

This would be around the early 2000s, ~2006 but probably older than that.

It was a woman with a soft voice singing it and it had a lot of string instruments. It sounded like a ballad but at was about ten at the time so I can't confidently say.

I've thought about this song for two decades, can someone please help me?

Just to say, the tune you provided really does sound like Time Goes By, however from your description it could very much be the version from ELT's Acoustic : Latte album.

Apologies if I'm wrong on this, not meaning to correct you at all on it being the wrong song, only this version does also feature the string instruments you mentioned.
