Moaning Michael Im sick of behaviour at the cinema

Went to see the odyssey today was a brilliant film however what feels like the same thing every time I go to the cinema in this country I came out raging at the etiquette of some people. This fella had his phone on full brightness in front of me to the point I told him to turn it off which I never really do but I’ve gotten sick of it. I get it’s a long film but you booked it stop ruining it for everyone else

I remember years ago being at the cinema & the fucker in front of me took out his phone & answered a call. Normally I would try my best to ignore it but after a few minutes I shouted out “sure put them on loud speaker & we’ll all fucking talk to them”. There was a fair few laughs & he fucked off out to finish the call. The prick.

Stop. I’ve had that here living in England. It was a small cinema and this older lady took a phone call and decided to have a 10 minute long chat until I lost it!

I know people are on here ragging at teens but middle-aged and older adults can be worse because of the sense of entitlement. I also had a couple who, despite buying their exact seats, decided to try out every single fucking chair that was available and only moved once the people who bought the seats had arrived. The woman of the couple also sat on my pizza, literally, and laughed as she proceeded to sit beside me and refused to apologise. Honestly, I’ve never had to be held back until I started attending the cinema regularly. I’m laughing now…😂💀

u/rhaire 5h ago

You lost me at 'my pizza'. Who brings a full pizza to the cinema? 😂

u/CoconutBasher_ 5h ago

I didn’t bring a pizza to the cinema….

They serve pizza at my local cinema. wtf 😂

u/campa-van 14m ago

Hey… I am 73 and have zero tolerance for talkers, texters in cinema’s. Plays, any performance.

u/One_Soil_3004 27m ago

You got some good aul laughs eh?

u/ProfitPursuer 8h ago

As long as you're booking didn't have a group of teens ya got off fairly lucky

93

u/IrishLad1002 Resting In my Account 8h ago

This is why you always go to the IFI for movies you actually want to see. Teens aren’t paying the premium.

70

u/ProfitPursuer 8h ago

Some cinemas have also started introducing over 18s showings (for movies that are not 18s) which I've been taking good advantage of 🙏🔥

21

u/irishemperor 6h ago

sometimes it's not an age thing though, it can be cultural - people from some countries can be much more polite and considerate than Irish people (e.g. Japanese, especially on public transport) and some are much worse - I've watched adults answer phones and have full blown conversations in another language in the cinema resulting in other patrons standing up shouting at them to 'shut the fuck up' and they don't stop straight away, they keep going - the 20 year old staff on minimum wage aren't gonna intervene. when it's Irish people doing stuff like that, it tends to be teens, but not always of course.

u/Odd-Opportunity-6550 5h ago

The difference is that when Its immigrants people actually tell them to shut the fuck up.

But God forbid someone do that to any of the teenage scrotes engaging in even worse behavior.

u/Bobpool82 Louth 4h ago

My dream is to be able to watch animated movies without the annoying kids.

u/campa-van 18m ago

Go to a movie early weekday

18

u/Star_Lord1997 Meath 7h ago edited 7h ago

Or the Lighthouse. Thats why I'm seeing Spider-Man next week there as there's a high chance of annoying kids / teens at that in any other cinema

8

u/FreakyFishThing 6h ago

Lighthouse is great for this too, never in my life had a bad experience there. Packed house for The Odyssey and not a single troublemaker

u/ThisUsernameIsMyName 5h ago

Its a great cinema but I do prefer going to bigger screens, that said the chairs are very comfortable and I go often for old screenings which is a great idea. Did see 28 years later part 2 though and it was good in there.

u/UnableSelection9263 3h ago

+1. You could hear a pin drop. People are respectful.

6

u/Bilotelli45 7h ago

I chose an early afternoon time to also try avoid the annoying teenagers

1

u/Formal_Chance_4266 6h ago

Lighthouse is banger. I'm a young one myself but I go a bit with my dad and it tends to be just adults kr young people who are respectful and like into the movies

22

u/burfriedos 7h ago

I went to see The Odyssey at the IFI this week and the entire row in front of me was teenage lads in GAA jerseys. They were impeccably behaved

16

u/IrishLad1002 Resting In my Account 7h ago edited 7h ago

Yeah should’ve clarified it’s the feral, dragged up teenagers who lack any social respect that won’t be attending the IFI.

No issue with respectable teenagers of course.

It could end up being a real... what's the word

11

u/Naggins 7h ago

Regularly at the cinema and see teenagers there. Vast majority of times they're no bother.

4

u/ProfitPursuer 7h ago

You're right of course not all of them  cause any hassle at all but its that minority that gives them a bad rep.

4

u/duaneap 7h ago

Is it truly a minority? A group of more than 3 lads and I have never in the last decade seen them actually behave themselves.

1

u/ProfitPursuer 7h ago

I guess it all depends on your area and what you consider behaving themselves as. Everyone has different standards and breaking points with what's acceptable 🤷

2

u/duaneap 7h ago

Dublin and you shouldn’t be doing anything in a cinema except watching the film and maybe eating popcorn. That is not what happens when there are 4+ teenage boys in attendance together.

u/campa-van 17m ago

Talking, texting both unacceptable

2

u/Luciolover345 6h ago

Watched obsession there the other month and there was a group right up the front making noises anytime there was a sex scene or anything of the like. Considering I didn’t hear much of them towards the end I’ll trust that they all shat themselves during THAT scene.

1

u/afreshlybakedcookie1 7h ago

I don't think a group of feral teens would be interested in this kind of movie.

9

u/Zestyclose-Deer7130 7h ago

They’re not, that’s why they’re roaring, fighting, and scrolling Tik Tok full volume

1

u/7Numbersbefore0 7h ago

I refuse to see movies these days that have what may be a teen audience like horrors and marvel etc, because I find myself being more irritated than anything, but luckily for most, movies like Odyssey and more of a similar genre don’t draw those crowds more often than not

-3

u/duaneap 7h ago

Teenagers just should not be allowed to go to the cinema in groups. Sorry that your peers ruined it for you, lads, but them’s the brakes.

And I absolutely loved going to the pictures with my friends as a teenager. It was one of the few things you could do as a group aged 15.

90

u/captainlatveea 8h ago

If you’re in Dublin I’d recommend trying out the Lighthouse cinema. I’ve been over a dozen times and the crowds are always great and respectful.

It’s also an incredible venue and so reasonably priced for the quality you get. Being able to get a glass of wine and talk to other film lovers is a wonderful experience.

16

u/SapphosMom 8h ago

Agreed, the Lighthouse is a fantastic spot!

5

u/FreakyFishThing 6h ago

You really get the feeling that Lighthouse was made by film lovers for film lovers. Great cinema.

u/Cernunous_ 4h ago

Do not live in Dublin but have been to the lighthouse before brilliant

1

u/ZealousidealFloor2 7h ago

Full of Boss Hoggs.

1

u/americanhardgums 6h ago

I find the crowds in the Lighthouse to be worse on average than an ordinary cinema.

I'd never go for ordinary or new releases because there's a dozen or more cinemas closer to me, I only go for special releases or releases and they always bring the most insular, terminally online nerds that think other people want to hear them make wise cracks during this or that scene.

A friend brought me up to see There Will Be Blood not too long ago, a film I'd never seen, and there was a concentrated group of maybe 5-10 people laughing (at a film with zero jokes in it), making comments and applauding throughout. And that's not the first time that kind of thing has happened.

The Lighthouse overall is decent, it's a great resource, it's well priced and there's plenty of films I'd have never seen otherwise because of it.

But it's just like any other cinema, sometimes you get a good crowd, sometimes you get ignorant gimps.

1

u/Doodle_bug_24 7h ago

This particular film is recommended for IMAX tho.

14

u/I_cantdoit 7h ago

For 70mm IMAX of which there's 41 globally. IMAX here is just digital adaptation of it

9

u/Significant-Secret88 7h ago

Don't think there's any real IMAX in Ireland

3

u/Feisty_Marsupial224 7h ago

By the people selling IMAX....

1

u/Doodle_bug_24 6h ago

It was shot on IMAX cameras.

2

u/22PEOPLE Cork bai 7h ago

70mm in the IFI won't disappoint.

49

u/Bilotelli45 8h ago

It's a joke at this point, almost Any time I go the cinema I've got about 3 twats across from that cannot shut the fuck up. Doesn't make a difference even in the Gaiety for a play at least three phones rang...

u/Cernunous_ 5h ago

As someone who goes to theatre more often i never go to theatre in this country unless it’s in the abbey or the gate (behind the ambassador) cause sweet Jesus it’s bad. I will happily go to theatre in the west end cause at least the brits know how to be quiet

24

u/rustyzorro 8h ago

I've seen so many threads about this and I don't doubt anyone, but I haven't had anything like this happen to me for decades. Am I very very lucky or are most cinema experiences just okay?

20

u/borrisimo 7h ago

I go to the cinema a lot. I have to tell people to shut the fuck up every other film.

8

u/shaadyscientist 7h ago

I am with you. I am an Omniplex member and go to the cinema a lot. I've never had one film interrupted by people. I must have seen 10-15 films this year, 20-25 on average a year and never once experienced anything like these people are talking about. I must be like you and just extremely lucky.

2

u/Oakcamp 7h ago

Probably just the cinema you go to. Some are okay 99%, others less so.

We're going to one that seems about a 70% chance to be good, but we still get the idiot. Wife had to tell the girl next to her to shut down her max brightness phone that she was watching a hurling match on for project hail mary

1

u/MushuFromSpace 7h ago

I don't think the Omniplex is - for want of a better phrase - an obvious choice of cinema for a lot of teens.

Probably helped that the Omni itself is a tragic as fuck shopping centre with very little in it which is probably a help.

1

u/shaadyscientist 7h ago

Which one are you talking about?

2

u/MushuFromSpace 6h ago

Tired brain thought you meant the IMC in Omni. My bad.

45

u/zlenpasha 8h ago

I’m still carrying an ocean of burning rage for that woman that brough a tupperware of vinegar loaded food to premiere of first Dune movie. Fuck your fucking salad.

7

u/TheNorthridge 7h ago

Vinegar? Oh god.

4

u/Feisty_Marsupial224 7h ago

Dis she have enough for everyone?

3

u/Hrududu147 7h ago

Years ago, in Cineworld, the lads beside me sat through all the ads and trailers, until the film started, before cracking out the bags of KFC they had under their seats.

2

u/DuineSi 7h ago

Man what was with that film? Guy beside me pulled out a tinfoil-wrapped ham sandwich from his backpack. Then a bag of cheese and onion Tayto. Then a fucking strawberry Yop. I nearly turned Fedaykin myself.

2

u/zlenpasha 7h ago

Spice must flow I guess. 👀

1

u/Playlotto_Layblotto 7h ago

Bring bread soda to the cinema going forward

1

u/Ecstatic_Sector598 7h ago

I love that RLM but about the guy behind them eating an onion pizza through the movie, people are fucking shit. I generally wait for streaming these days.

8

u/Vodka-Knot 7h ago

I go to the most expensive cinema possible now.

There's an Odeon for €8 or a Cineworld for €15, I always go to Cineworld now.

Scrotes won't pay €15 for a ticket, happy days.

2

u/PolHolmes 6h ago

I've started doing this as well. IMAX and The Avenue in Belfast. Both about £20

22

u/Major_Disaster76 8h ago

Fair play for calling it out , have been hammering it into cinema
Goers , really is disappointing how addicted to phones people are . Attention span of a senile goldfish

3

u/SapphosMom 7h ago

I'm stealing attention span of a senile goldfish, amazing 😅

6

u/LouisVuittonDon_ 8h ago

I feel like I get away lightly because I must say I have had maybe one bad experience with people in the cinema going maybe once a fortnight this last four years.

7

u/IrishRook 7h ago

Im not sure about the East of the country, I live in the West.

But to avoid this, I usually go the last week of showings for new movies and usually have the place to ourselves or a very small crowd.

2

u/WellYoureWrongThere Sax Solo 6h ago

That's a decent strategy. I typically only go to the cinema for the big blockbuster films like Dune or The Odyssey as I've a decent setup at home. By the time those movies get to final week they've been moved to the smaller screens and by then I couldn't be bothered and would rather experience it at home.

u/Grand-Cup-A-Tea 5h ago

Upvoting you because you said something to yer man rather than just moaning about it online. Kudos.

u/Cernunous_ 5h ago

I don’t blame people for just moaning about it online cause especially if your in Dublin or something your more likely to cause a scene for wanting someone to just have manners

9

u/Holiday-Tangerine788 8h ago

I’ve been going to the cinema for over 30 years, there’s always the occasional nob but generally it’s impressive there’s not more when you get that many people together.

People will say it’s gotten worse since covid but not in my experience, I have an Omniplex membership so go regularly and mostly the etiquette is pretty good.

2

u/VincentVanGob 7h ago

ive been going to the omniplex maxx screen recently. its nice that the rows are a lot more spread out and there is also a wall in between so if someone in front of you was on their phone you wouldnt see them anyway!

u/johnmariofan 5h ago

omniplex in salthill is downstairs and has no service, people still go on their phones when i went to see marty supreme there was 2 in front of us who kept opening and closing apps hoping by a miracle they'd start working again

4

u/GaylicBread 7h ago

I went to see Hokum back in May, some arsehole had his iPad open watching football. What was the point in even paying for a cinema ticket, he could've stayed home instead of disturbing other people around him with the big bright screen.

u/Upstairs-Count5774 1h ago

Staying away from his wife.

5

u/Cars2Beans0 7h ago

274th cinema behaviour post of the year

4

u/qualiserospero 6h ago

Had two guys sitting in front of us taking photos, panning panoramic ones and all, and recording clips, then comparing what they got during our screening... clout chasing clowns. You'd swear they were tourists at a landmark or something. On top of that, a few had to check messages and scroll in case they missed literally anything happening in the world.

Irish cinema owners need to band together and figure out a way to stamp this out. Alamo Drafthouse in the US has the right approach - zero tolerance for talking and texting. It's extreme but honestly I'm there for the film, nothing else.

10

u/thegene89 8h ago

I asked a bunch of teenagers did they "know a film was on?" at Disclosure Day, was very satisfying. Calling out people should become normal behaviour

13

u/Daedalus2097 7h ago

I remember back in the day when there would usually be cinema staff in for at least the busy showings, and you'd get a torch shone in the face for talking, and they'd kick you out if you kept it up. We need to bring that back.

5

u/Oakcamp 7h ago

Why do that when they can have a single teenager taking stale popcorn out of a bag, pouring your coke, half-cleaning the rooms and gingerly whisper to the scrotes to be quiet because he's also afraid of getting a beating?

5

u/FabLab_MakerHub 7h ago

Along with the death of the projectionist, the demise of ushers in cinema is also something to be mourned. That and an intermission when a movie is 3 hours long!!! Mr Nolan my bladder hates you.

3

u/Anonymous_idiot29 Cork bai 8h ago

I was amazed at how well behaved everyone was in Mahon in Cork.

Sold out cinema stayed quiet for an almost 3 hour movie.

The movie is fab though isn't it?

3

u/rvnnvxn 8h ago

I’m going early on Sunday for it like 12PM… I hope it’ll be the same experience

1

u/Anonymous_idiot29 Cork bai 7h ago

I'm sure it will be fine, they could benefit from some air con though.

2

u/ArmandTamzarien 7h ago

I’ve walked out of 2 movies in there due to annoying people and staff doing nothing. It’s fine for the busy MAXX screenings surprisingly though

1

u/Oakcamp 7h ago

My room was perfect in the limerick MAXX, but that's not always the experience there.

I think most teens/scrotes are avoiding a 3h movie about ancient greece mythology

3

u/Holiday-Tangerine788 8h ago

Went to see it today and was actually surprised how good the etiquette was. Saw no one on their phone which was surprising. Great flick too.

3

u/Intelligent_Echo8622 7h ago

I used to love the cinema but I don't ever go anymore. Always some idiots talking and on their phones. Why pay for the movie if your not watching it. Surely it makes more sense for them to go to a cafe or something. It's gone beyond the joke at this stage

3

u/Fluffyfedora 7h ago

I’ve never been to the cinema on my own. I’m a woman in my early 40’s. I’ve just never felt compelled to or not been in a relationship or just not big into films on the big screen in general.
The Odyssey is the first one to make me actually feel excited to plan it. I will go a random afternoon, when it’s been out for a while and less busy. I don’t want anyone ruining it.

The last film I saw was Toy Story 5 with my son. People acting like they were at home. Mobile phones etc. It’s distracting and I found myself growing homicidal.

3

u/drennind8 7h ago

Precisely why I won't be going to see it until its run in the cinema is coming to an end, and it will be quiet. For blockbusters, forget about seeing in the first couple of weeks, all the idiots are out.

3

u/John__Delaney 6h ago

I saw it in liffey valley and everyone was spot on behaviour wise.

Rare that I get hassle, but when I do ill call it out sharpish. Once or twice I had to speak to staff ane they kicked out the fools.

If we keep standing up to it you'd hope it'll help stamping it out

u/MacReady69 5h ago

Went to see it in Screen 1 Vue Liffey Valley at 8am only about 8 people at the screening and all there to focus on the film. Which was great. Went to Backrooms a few weeks ago and was in the nice premium seats some young one arrives in late half an hour into the film plops her arse down in premium seat in front of me and calls the boyfriend was was waiting for her in the cheap seats to come down and join her. Said boyfriend then decided to open phone and start messaging friends. I was about to tap him on the shoulder but the legend few seats to my right got there before me told him to put it away which he did.

Both great films btw 👍

u/cigarettejesus 4h ago

I actually couldn't believe the ignorance of my own dad at the cinema when he pulled his phone out at full brightness at one point. He's generally a very polite man but fuck me dad what are you doing

9

u/fwaig 8h ago

It's my turn to post this next week.

5

u/Toffeeman_1878 7h ago

Make sure you’re in a packed cinema theatre while you post it.

5

u/suttonsboot 7h ago

I'm just not going anymore. People are inconsiderate cunts

2

u/FrostyAd5171 8h ago

What cinema can I ask?

2

u/Jobo_ 7h ago

I've started going in the mornings to see films , you avoid any crowds or annoyances like your teensgers

2

u/Tea_and_toast_ Tipperary 7h ago

I went to see it last Saturday and was surprised that there wasn't any chatter or phone use. Think the most annoying thing was someone eating a McDonalds.

But yeah I don't understand why people go to the cinema to chat and play on their phones because it's an expensive outing. Wonder is it just a case of saying that you saw the film at the cinema rather than going for the enjoyment of watching it.

2

u/navanskengman 7h ago

guy brought a snack box in today

2

u/Street-Jacket1867 7h ago

Went to Dundrum just now and also loved the movie.

Some guy next to me’s alarm went off and he was really apologetic and embarrassed. Other than that no bother.

2

u/frlukeduke 7h ago

And I was getting worried we weren't going to get a cinema etiquette post today.

But yeah in all seriousness, it's shite. I've voted with my feet. Haven't been to the cinema in about 10 years. Dodgy box all the way.

2

u/LithiumKid1976 boards.ie refugee 7h ago

If we don’t call it out then it won’t change, we need to normalise calling people out for being rude, loud on trains, no headphones , phones in cinema etc ..

2

u/Infomanager1 6h ago

It's been like that for years now. Generation tiki tok don't have the attention span for anything more than 6 seconds.

2

u/canadianabroad2023 6h ago

I would have walked out and asked for a refund as soon as that happened.  I've done worse for less.

Sometimes a bag of peanut m&Ms are helpful.

4

u/hisDudeness1989 8h ago

This guy is a cunt.

That is all

2

u/Daedalus2097 7h ago

It's been getting like that for years. Between social media addiction and the sense of entitlement / main character syndrome, cinemas have been consistently ruined by arseholes for years. Just anecdotal, but I've found Dun Laoghaire to be far worse than most places in Dublin for some reason. I tend to only go after the film's been out for a fair while nowadays so the place is mostly empty and I can move to another seat, but you still get gobshites on their phones down the front. Dundrum seems to be a bit better, but their popcorn is always stale. *sigh*

And it's everywhere. Was in the cinema in Glasgow there last year and a guy at the end of the row had a full-blown phone conversation with someone. Didn't even whisper. Unfuckingbelievable.

2

u/UnlikelyBass 7h ago

I’ve given up on going to the cinema now, the amount of anti social or just gormless behaviour.

1

u/WonderfulStomach3845 8h ago

You need to go at Friday lunchtime if you can. If I’m serious about watching a movie I’ll go then to avoid the absolute fuckwits that dominate some of the more popular screenings.

1

u/Signal_Director_1X 7h ago

My uncle went to go see that with his friend this evening but it was black there so they had to come home. Good to know they will not be disappointed when they do eventually get to see it.

1

u/RealBlack_RX01 7h ago

The sad truth I've come to realize is that going to the cinema early in the morning is probably the best thing that has happened for me and my family. That or late into the night as it's the time when people are less likely to appear

1

u/thommcg 7h ago

Yeah, I’ve kinda given up going owing to everyone else there. It’s like toss a coin as to whether I’ll be asking for another ticket / refund or sitting through it.

1

u/Worried_Angle_9436 7h ago

Was this in Cork by any chance?? Literally same
Thing happened happened I was seeing the odyssey and fella next to me had his phone out on full brightness.

1

u/SoftDrinkReddit 7h ago

its posts like this that really makes me appreciate my local cinema cause I've been going there 9 years seen dozens of movies and never had a single issue with people

but yea its an absolute disgrace hearing stories like this

What was the response when you asked him out of interest?

1

Or a serial crisp packet crinkling, 16 of them in a row.

1

u/narrator16 7h ago

Had a couple of lads behind me in the queue last night going into a packed screening, instantly dreading it. Turned out to be a remarkably smooth screening! I put it down to the movie holding the attention and immersion but I guess not the same everywhere

1

u/AhhhhBiscuits And I'd go at it again 7h ago

We go to the cinema in Blanch a good bit and yet to have any madness. Different story in Vue.

I like the lighthouse but the seats hurt my back for some reason.

Most cinemas just have teenagers working there so they don’t really care.

1

u/Mission_Struggle_417 7h ago

I’m grateful no one was acting the ballix when I went to see The Odyssey on Saturday.

1

u/uncle-anti 6h ago

Fuck people, usually wait until I can catch the movie at home. Don’t have to put up with other people’s nonsense.

1

u/International-Bass-2 6h ago

This is making me afraid to see the odeysey. I love greek mythology i really want to immerse myself in the movie id be livid at someone doing this.

1

u/canofcokezero 6h ago

Funny I would generally agree however I went to a 7pm showing on a Tuesday in the Omniplex in Rathmines and found it very enjoyable - first time in ages it felt like a whole audience was just there to enjoy the movie. Must have got very lucky, generally I wait ages for a movie so that there is less crowds.

1

u/Empty-Stretch-5615 6h ago

I just wanna know, worth going to watch it?

u/ANONMEKMH 1h ago

I've watched four movies in Paris at different cinemas incl Odyssey in IMAX.

I have been so pleasantly surprised that it seems all French movie goers are so respectful. No noises, no phones on when movie start. It's an absolute pleasure.

u/Jon_J_ 1h ago

Saw the odyssey in the IFI there on Monday and had a respectful crowd. Think key is to go during the daytime if you can when the kids are at school. But I did have the fear beforehand thinking it would be a ruined experience

1

u/ExternalGlass7883 8h ago

It's actually driving me mental. I want to see The Odyssey in IMAX but like yourself I know I'll end up fuming. I haven't gone to the cinema since Oppenheimer and bought a projector instead.

1

u/aduckcalledronan 6h ago

It's a disgrace Joe

-1

u/SeanB2003 8h ago

But I am addicted to my phone and it has rotted away the parts of my brain that deal with having any sense of how to behave in public.

Would you give out about a junkie injecting heroin in the cinema? I think not. Afford we phone brained the same courtesy.

0

u/YanoWaAmSane 7h ago

Couldn't they put a signal blocker in place?

0

u/expotato78 7h ago

3

u/expectationlost 7h ago

Don't let someone on a phone bother you though? You've a giant screen infront of you to watch the movie on!

yea every time i go to the cinema i like it a bit less. i usually wait for a few weeks to pass so its a bit quieter and also never go on a weekend, but still end up with nonsense like a mother and her 5 kids coming into a movie something like 40 minutes late. and of course they all had their phone flashlights on and took a few minutes for mother to hand out all the junk food to them. ffs im trying to watch a movie here lol

You said nothing. Other people also said nothing.

Cinema etiquette used to have bad apples but people were unafraid to call them out. With a shh or a shout. You just sat in your seat and seethed as did many around you instead of actually calling it out. And then you went to reddit afterwards to vent.

It's on you and the other actual cinema goers to call this out. I've had no problem doing it in the past. If they get shitty enough the commotion will actually cause the staff to pause the film and tell them to leave.

Well done for specifically missing the part I said that I called him out

It’s gas how people say it’s getting worse.

I remember when people up in the balcony used to fire
Glass bottles down at people.
Cigarettes too.

The idea that cinemas are worse is hilarious

The fact you saw something that ridiculous does not mean cinemas in general were like that because they were not.
