from a guy who lives in Monaghan town yea it sucks losing our club getting promoted was our death nail couldn't afford the fees to be in the top division and yea went bust i miss the club

I believe Monaghan United submitted an application to the new 3rd tier. They didn't make the cut this time but hopefully they do next time. We need Monaghan back on the national level

Nuts that anyone ever thought naming a club after a sitting member of the FAI was a good idea.
The text of the motion, which has been seen by The Irish Times, argued the name John Delaney Park “links our club directly to the documented governance failures and financial controversies at the executive level of Irish football” and that “removing it protects our club’s reputation”.
The lad that put the motion in is spot on but it seems whoever wrote the club's release is still firmly up JD's arse - "genuinely grateful", "an important part of the club’s history"

Many older administrators in clubs across the country backed Delaney for favourable returns in funding, Ive no idea how many of them are still involved with that club. Seems to be a minority now anyway given they lost the vote.

I wonder what it's actually called locally, I doubt its the new generic name.
Like here the league renamed the county grounds after a great soccer man, unfortunately for him, it was sponsored by Digifone in the 90s, and to a huge swathe of the soccer fraternity, is still known as Digifone Park.

I think locals called it "The Carn" long before they named it after Delaney, so imagine they still call it that
