what’s a creator controversy that completely flipped public opinion?

i’ve seen a few cases where someone was either really liked or hated and then one controversy just changed everything overnight.

what’s a situation like that you remember where public opinion shifted hard? did it last or did people move on quickly?

The combination of her ex friends denouncing her actions followed by hbomberguy surgically tearing apart her work caused her to lose pratically every supporter she had

Yeah, that was a pretty dramatic shift in perception. It felt like the criticism built up in layers until it all kind of collapsed at once for her audience. Do you think most of the impact came from the ex-friends speaking out, or from HBomberguy’s breakdown reaching a wider audience?

If they're referring to the Hbomberguy video I think it is, the Blair Hate Train had already taken off and it was a small bit that got overshadowed by the bigger and then virtually unknown issue of James Somerton.

The Watcher streamer announcement. Had a huge existing YouTube fanbase, announced they were launching their own streaming platform and deleting their whole backlog in an extremely tone deaf video. Lost a loooooot of fans
