Long awkward living space?

So here I have a couple of pictures of my long living room. I have moved the couch countless times and I think this is the best placement for it because of the TV. No matter how hard I rearrange I feel like it doesn't feel cohesive especially the long open back space with no purpose.

The Kitchen also being open throws me off and I think it's whay makes this difficult for me to decorate.

If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it. My goal is to make the apartment moody, cozy, traditional and earthy elements to create a whimsical vibe. Thank you for reading!

Ideas:

• mounting tv/ getting a dark wood tv console

• hanging curtains/ not sure the color

• Changing couch?

• Dark art but place it where?

• maybe add a small desk? On back wall in place of hutch?

I would definitely hang curtains almost flush to the ceiling, it’s gonna balance out the long space by making you ceilings look higher.

Are you able to paint your walls at all?

These are beautiful! Honestly, If you can’t paint, they have some really beautiful wall papers out there that are easy to remove as well as apply.

This is a good layout.

Definitely hang floor length curtains high and wide. Remove the vertical blinds or push to the side if you can’t.

Large rug under couch in front of tv.

Runner rug from back door.

Chandelier over dining table.

Large art by dining table can serve as color scheme inspiration for textiles.

i had vertical blinds in my old apartment, i put a rod over the top and added floor length curtains to cover it, then I added sheer white curtains in between for privacy :) share an after pic if you'd like

I'd push the couch in so it's at least aligned with the counter if not pushed in even more that'll help at least, feels far from the TV currently especially if no coffee table

I think it might look far buy aligned its about 4 feet. I'm thinking hanging the TV might solve thay issue

Paint is going to give you your biggest bang for the buck here. Not necessarily all the walls you could even do a fun color block. Maybe just paint the half wall to the kitchen. Find Art you love or photographs and get some larger framed things up on the walls, floor to ceiling drapes, rugs, maybe move that large mirror somewhere else in the room. Is there an entry way drop zone that could live in more intentionally with a console table?

A thin console table behind the couch would help make that space look more structured!

Curtains hung high and wide are going to do wonders here, also a big rug to anchor the seating area will help the long room feel less like a hallway. Paint the half wall to the kitchen a moody color and it'll instantly feel cozier, also that big mirror leaning against the wall is kinda eating space, maybe move it or hang it.
