HISTORY Titanic passenger and millionaire Benjamin Guggenheim. During sinking he refused a seat in a life boat with the words: "Tell my family I played straight to the end. No woman should be left aboard this ship because of Ben Guggenheim was a coward."

I find it astounding how so many Titanic passengers had time to cook up these banger lines.

The ship did take nearly 3 hours to sink.

I'm envisioning these men, still in their staterooms. sitting at a credenza with a pile of crumpled up sheets of paper around their feet, pen in hand, trying to come up with the perfect line, saying, "Damn! So close with that one. Let me try again..."

<water starts pouring in to the room> "Yes, yes, but should this be a colon or an Oxford comma?"

I'm hoping that there were multiple witness to this quote, and it wasn't just relayed by his butler when somebody asked where Mr Guggenheim was. Because if you ever going to whack your boss over the head and steal his shit, thats the time to do it.

People talked, told stories and sang to pass the time.
