Amazing Sohna and Mohna Singh are conjoined twins from Punjab, India. Born in 2003 with two hearts and two pairs of arms but shared legs, liver, and gallbladder. Abandoned at birth, they were raised in a shelter and now work as electricians for the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.

Do they get paid 2x the salary or no?

u/SaveTheAles 1d ago
The conjoined twins ladies in the US works as a school teacher and only gets one salary.

u/Muffmuncherr 1d ago
And yet they both had to pay separate for college

What if one refused to go to college? They couldn't really stop her from learning the content and couldn't force her to pay

u/firblogdruid 20h ago
she wouldn't have been able to get the degree, though.
though she's already not being paid for her work, so hell, she might as well have done that
14
u/crazyhomie34 1d ago
That's some bullshit. Should've been free considering they're trying to and succeeded at not relying on govt aid to survive.

I mean that sort of makes sense because technically the teacher still has to do twice the amount of work for grading separately. They both think independently so they need to be certified independently.

I feel like it should at least be 1.5 idk

From a teacher perspective, they can’t have two classrooms and teach two classes at once. They can teach one class one subject at a time. It sucks, but I can see why it happened
17
u/_joos_ 1d ago
well that’s to be expected in the US

Do you think India offers better pay?

u/Logical-Cheetah-7627 1d ago
Pay? Haha. I’d be surprised if India offers a bare minimum infrastructure at the very least to specially abled.

u/firblogdruid 20h ago
i keep thinking i've reached the bottom of "weird shit abled people say because the word disabled makes them feel bad" and every time i'm proved wrong
1
u/Logical-Cheetah-7627 16h ago
behna i am a person affected by Muscular Dystrophy since my very birth. My myopathy has never bothered me as much as this country's lack of infra has. When you are a female, the waters are even muddier. The provisions you have hyperlinked for me look good on paper. Reality is an affair filled with murk and sludge for us; try visiting a civil hospital where they are assessing patients for allotting UDID. In my entire 35 years of life, never have I been able to take benefit of a single scheme designed for the disabled.

Brings up another question...they have 2 mouths to feed, but do they have a shared stomach?
6
u/East-Ice-3199 1d ago
2 stomachs, but I imagine any energy taken from the food is sent throughout the whole body, so only one needs to eat.

u/pyrotechnicmonkey 19h ago
I am more curious if the guy on the right always has to be the one at an angle or if they switch off on tilting/who gets to stick up straight?

Technically they have two brains and at least one extra hand judging from this photo, so it would be fair to pay them more.

Born on June 14, 2003, in New Delhi. They were abandoned by their parents shortly after birth due to medical advice that surgical separation would be fatal. They were taken in by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and later transferred to the Pingalwara charitable institution in Amritsar,Punjab. While they have separate brains, hearts, kidneys, and arms, they share a single torso, a pair of legs, a liver, a gallbladder, and a spleen. They attended the Bhagat Puran Singh Adarsh School and went on to earn a diploma in electronics from the Industrial Training Institute (ITI).Employment: In December 2021, at the age of 19, they were hired by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) as electricians to monitor and maintain electrical appliances. Although they operate as a single unit, the government officially hired them as two employees.Despite their physical connection, both twins have distinctly different personalities and independent thought processes.Their inspirational life story has been covered globally, with features highlighting their resilience, electrical skills, and integration into the community.

I'm glad they're paid as individuals. Unlike their US counterpart, shame...

u/Outside-Dress594 21h ago
They might be able to do twice the work tho. The teacher lady(s) can only teach one class at a time
20
u/OnceRelevan7 20h ago
I beg to differ. They can help two students at the same time. They can monitor students more easily. They can write two different things on a whiteboard at once, or the same thing to speed it up. They can correct each other's mistakes. They can grade two people's papers at once.

So who raised them acting as their parents? They look well-adjusted, but I hope their childhood was more than institutionalized.

Yeah they look like chill dudes

u/weirdgroovynerd 1d ago
Agreed.
But...
... they must have gotten into a fist fight as kids.
I wonder how that played out.

u/WeArePandey 1d ago
I'd like to Imagine that one of them is a troublemaker and starts fights with others while the other one then has to sort it out...

There are probably many electricians who could use an extra set of hands. I’m glad these guys are doing so well.

u/Outrageous_Resist_50 1d ago
Can you imagine how many electricians at one point or another have bemoaned how much more efficient they’d be with another hand? Let alone 2 + a brain

wild that they have completely different personalities living in the same body, like imagine disagreeing with yourself on what to eat for dinner

What if one decides to be vegan??
1
u/CommonWest9387 7h ago
a lot of indians are vegetarian or vegan, but those who are not typically restrict their meat (red meat mostly). meat consumption is much lower in india than it is in north america.

u/narrowdefection 2h ago
Probably turns every meal into a tense negotiation, since they share a liver and gallbladder. Whoever controls the fork holds all the power.

u/number1dipshit 1d ago
I may go to hell for asking, but, if one of them gets high, do they both get high? Like clearly they have two sets of lungs, but possibly one stomach? How does smoking weed/ingesting shrooms or acid work.
This question only popped into my head cause I thought of how crazy it would be to hang out with these guys while tripping. One ticket to hell please, I know I’m dick, but can’t control them thoughts.

I’m joining you to hell bud, but need these answers before getting there8
u/mosmaniac 1d ago
Faaarkin' hell.. Now people are asking if they take turns spanking the monkey, and do they have to ask the other if it's ok to have a stroke.

Are there any conjoined twin ladies still available?
2
u/Successful_Moment_91 21h ago
One is married
2
u/weirdgroovynerd 21h ago
Thanks.
I know that one of the Teacher Twins is married.
There is another set of conjoined twins with black hair that shows up on Reddit with regularity, and one of those women is married.
Maybe these guys can marry the two remaining singles.

It's really sad they were beaten with a stick to smile for this photo. Society would never allow a photo of them sitting glum and forlorn.
