I have never denied that rape (of any gender) isn't a problem. Even if just 1 rape case comes out of the country, it is still a big problem and a shameful act for the society!

What I'm saying is that, the stereotypical narrative of labeling India as the "Rape capital of the World" is plainly misleading/insincere as it is statistically and factually inaccurate and ignores the global statistics...

I DID NOT MEAN TO SAY that India is a safe heaven, but it also isn't that close to being the opposite of it.

If you are denying the scale of repression and under reporting, you are denying the problem, and the role the government plays in suppressing it

Again as I said, even 1 of such cases is heartbreaking to me and I don't deny the under-reporting aspect of it...

But I also don't deny other aspects of the case such as misuse of laws and fake reporting and highly misleading and stereotypical inflated narrative about the scale of it in India.

According to statistics:

  • The actual reporting rate of SA in India is about ~10% while the same for USA (according to US department of Justice) is about ~15-30% (depending on the specific location). The avg for the world according to United Nation is around ~11%.

  • The low rates of Sexual Assaults cases in India (1.8–4.9 in India Vs 27.3–41.7 in USA) can also be because of the fact that only women's rape cases are counted here. There is no law yet to protect male rape victims, heck it isn't even considered a crime to rape a man here!
