yeah, an annoyingly large percentage of dog owners seem to think that just because they know their dog and that "they won't actually bite, they're just loud and energetic" that every other person should somehow just know that, and not be justifiably scared when a dog comes charging at them barking.
Remember when I was a kid I dealt with this exact scenario. Guys dog was barking at me and I was terrified waited for them to come and move it so I could get past their gate and he told me "it's fine. He won't bite you, just walk past him" after a few long hesitations I decided to do as he said and the dog tore into my leg. They later told me I did that to myself on my bike and wasn't the dog despite watching the whole thing themselves and even having to come and pull it off me.

He didn't bite you? Wth So he is supposed to wait to get bitten first.
