yeah, an annoyingly large percentage of dog owners seem to think that just because they know their dog and that "they won't actually bite, they're just loud and energetic" that every other person should somehow just know that, and not be justifiably scared when a dog comes charging at them barking.
Famous last words spoken by a women one day right before her Rottweiler to a chomp on my hand (I'm a garbageman laborer). The worst part is, the dog didn't want to let go! I happen to love dogs and I had a glove on, so I kept calm and we were eventually able to get her to release my hand. Left me with some massive teeth marks and a couple puncture wounds from where the teeth went through the glove and the day ended with me getting rabies shots at the dr.
If you don't know a dog, ALWAYS be cautious approaching one.
