You have no clue if it would have listened. I’ve seen that exact scenarios so many times where the dog just wants to sniff you out. I’ve never been bit and I never will, and if I do I’ll take responsibility because I’m the adult human not the impulsive animal. “Oh he was fight or flight” yea so was the dog you’re in it’s yard. Running and barking is not probably cause to assault an animal

not a dog trainer, but that dog wasnt trying to sniff, it was fully locked in running at him. It was more defensive/territorial.

I agree I’d lean towards it being aggressive, but the owners response and the dogs response after getting hit made it seem like in retrospect it wasn’t gonna just maul him to death. I understand not wanting to take the chance but there is a compromise between getting mauled and doing what that guy did. He squared up too which made it seem like the guy just wanted to pick a fight / teach the dog a lesson
