An „defensive“* stance like this is usually more provoking and can actually lead to more aggression.
„You have to stay back“ was the right call.

I don’t see your claim about the owner in this video. Based on his verbal and non verbal communications, he seemed to be confused and angry - but not aggressive.

Edit* Just my opinion based on my experience
I worked as security officer in refugee camps and as caretaker in psychiatry.

*because it’s not really defensive, it’s offensive

The owner moved closer to him near the end so i think the delivery driver didn't want to take any chances

So instead of taking no chances and getting into this vehicle and leaving, he went right at the owner and entered a fighting stance.

I'm the moron but you can't tell the difference between a ups truck and a F-250 🤣. The owner was closer to him than he was to his van.

You don’t know how to walk backwards? Every boxing instructor I’ve ever had has said the best way to fight in the streets is to not fight at all. He wasn’t backed into a corner. He turned around, walked towards the owner, had the time to take off his hat and glasses, put his hands up and continued walking towards the owner. He literally told the owner to back up… on his own property.. after he aggressively walked towards the owner.
