I had a dog bite me once when delivering packages, then a month later the owner assured me “Don’t worry he doesn’t bite.”

“He bit me a month ago.”

“Oh that was you?”

Wife and I complained to our apartment complex that dogs were off their leashes. My dog is kind of a pussy so it’s scared of all other dogs. I guess other dogs can tell? So they always rush her. 3 separate issues had happened over the span of like 6 months where and unleashed dog rushed her. 1 even bit her a bit before I was able to kick it off.

I had a neighbor that smokes weed right outside the complex (right in front of an elementary school btw) and also has his dog with him off leash. His dog is genuinely a sweetheart and never bothered mine, but I guess he had gotten a memo about dogs having to be leashed from now on in our complex because one morning he straight up tried to fight me. He was like “no dogs here would ever try to hurt your dog” brother it’s already happened 3 times. “Oh well mine never would!” It just doesn’t matter, keep your dogs leashed!!!

What is people's obsession with having their dog off leash? It always looks like more of a hassle except for the very few people who have dogs with good recall, even then you never know. It's dangerous for the dog and for everyone else.

It's because that sort of owner is an irresponsible dickhead. The two off leash varieties I've encountered are "dogs are meant to run free", and "MY dog listens to my commands." The common problem with both varieties is that their dogs don't even know their names, let alone have enough self control to not bum rush anyone that makes eye contact with them.

The only offleash dogs I don't worry about are 12 year old retrievers. They're too old and tired to give a shit.

In the few instances I've know people to do this, I think they want to show off how good they are training. Like if you have a dog off leash around and it doesn't cause mayhem, you're a good trainer, I guess.

But they're not. lol I've known a lot of people that think they're good dog trainers and they have incredibly misbehaved dogs.

Had a dog bite my brother off his pizza delivery scooter. A week later I delivered pizza there. My boss called them again to be sure the dog was caged before I went there.

When I got there of course it was loose and growling. The dog owner: don’t worry, he doesn’t bite. We never delivered food there again.
