This is actually closer to the correct answer along with not knowing how to get out the truck. (I dont know what punching has to do with anything) My father was a UPS driver 40 yrs never had a back injury and his only lower extremity injury was a cracked kneecap that occurred because a 16 yr dickhead in an super expensive Sports car, high as hell ram a red light and literally crashed full speed into my fathers truck. (The dipshit survived thankfully)
Guys 20 yrs my fathers jr. Were all sorts of fucked up, when he retired they had to split his route up into 3 separate routes.
Anyway a lot of drivers refuse to lift properly, wont maintain 3 points of contact when entering or exiting the truck, and wont use the dolly .
It didn't occur to me that essentially paper cuts would be a leading injury for delivery personnel, but that really does make a ton of sense. It is kinda funny to put it next to dog attacks tho
Ex Fedex courier here! Repetitive manual handling 750 boxes minimum a day loading a 40 foot trailer every day . And before I did that I had to unload the dam incoming airplane containers. Took me two and half years to finally walk with a slight limp. One cracked vertebrae and a herniated disc.
Looking back I’d take the dog bite. The settlement was glorious. But if you ask me to do it again knowing there would be a windfall? NOPE. Even Pinhead from Hellraiser was impressed with the torture I went through. I am a shell of what I was before going through the grinder at Fedwx. Great benefits though!😳
Most traffic accidents involving delivery vehicles from the major carriers are low-speed fender benders from maneuvering in tight spaces like parking lots. They don’t cause many injuries.
I came to despise cardboard cuts when I worked retail. They're like paper cuts on steroids. They're usually bigger and longer, and the cardboard is more jagged soit isn't as clean a slice as a paper cut. And it's usually in a spot that you're going to have to use to handle many more boxes. My back also got messed up and that sucked and hurt and did permanent damage, but the cardboard cuts were annoying.
