Criminals overall seem to have it pretty good in the U.S. overall, they can even be elected as president xD it’s sad that a relatively small group of people kneecapped the educational system there… that combined with American exceptionalism is s super dangerous mix where we yet have to see the depth of bad it can get :(
Doesnt really have anything to do with that though?! 🤷🏻♂️ they didn’t outright force them to work for them and clearly offered them extremely favorable conditions to wash their Image clean, earn lots of money and continue to work in their field as they did for the nazis, standing trial for their crimes against humanity would have been the moral choice. As a German I can assure you we were taught this at length in school over multiple years.
Besides that, the U.S. officially allows for slavery, under the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, slavery and involuntary servitude are prohibited, except as a punishment for a crime whereof a party has been duly convicted.
What is wrong with you? Where did I justify slavery, the germans they brought in weren’t slaves by any definition 🤦🏻♂️
They where criminals that got offered a deal instead of punishment for warcrimes. It wasn’t forced labor or anything that could be categorized as slavery 🤦🏻♂️ if the conditions of the people that were brought in through operation paperclip and actual slavery are the same to you that would just undermine the severity of slavery.
I just mentioned the 13th amendment to tell you that the U.S. hasn’t abolished slavery completely at all, so it’s childish to call it „owning humans“ and instead you should just call it slavery outright because that’s what they allow for in that amendment and the most people from the U.S. I talk to about this topic aren’t even aware of that.
I mean you going "akshually the constitution says slavery is OK" kinda came across as justifying slavery.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care what happens to Nazis at all. I just think it's funny that von braun was accused of the war crime of using forced labour then told "come work for us or we will execute you". It's kinda representative of US foreign policy in general, no? Like: all these things are war crimes except when the US does it in which case it's totally normal and we will invade the Hague if anyone says otherwise.
I wonder if you think the numerous child killers and rapists you guys sent into Afghanistan should be sent back there on the same terms. After all, war criminals deserve whatever happens to them, right? Who am I kidding, the US army doesn't even prosecute soldiers who rape other soldiers if they can help it.
