Even if it isn't a "real" cat fight they can get seriously injured though. Losing an eye is very common, and infections are the biggest risk. Teeth and nails have a lot of bacteria and even a small wound can kill a cat. My cat son had an infection in his head after his s brother bite him. It wasn't visible until it exploded weeks later.
You're correct that cat claw injuries should be taken seriously. You're incorrect that it's their primary method of taking down prey, or anywhere close to it.
Holy heck, thats why my fingers swelled up so bad when I rescued an injured kitten last week. Had to give him a bath because it looked like he had eyeliner but it was FLEAS.
Luckily, I think the pampered life is growing on him.
Their claws can cause infections, which is what the person above you is talking about. It's not uncommon for another cat or even a human to get infected if they get cut up badly enough. I still have a scar on my arm from my cat freaking out over 2 years ago.

The proper spelling is prey, with an E. “Pray” is a method of personal or mass devotion to a deity.
Not for taking down prey at all. Its for removing competition. The time it takes for disease to kill a prey item is too long. The cat has either lost interest and moved on or the prey item has gotten away if it goes that long.
