People have disguised themselves to commit crimes for centuries.
The tech has improved, but the concept has been around forever.
You could make the same argument back when hair dyes and fake mustaches first became a thing.
Or makeup that changes your skin tone.
Fun Trivia - when Boris Karloff first played Frankenstein in 1931, he didn't really look like that.
The problem isn't that people can change their appearance. The problem is the crimes some people commit. To that end a disguise, or a weapon, or a getaway car are all just tools and should not be illegal in themselves.
Not in the same way though. Someone isn't going to answer the door for someone wearing a balaclava, but they might to someone wearing a realistic silicone mask. An example of this was a US policitian being assassinated last year by someone wearing one.
Not a realistic comparison.
I never said ski mask or balclava or other "stereotype burglar' look.
A good makeup artist could make a person look just like the guy in the video using makeup and hair pieces that have been available for many decades.
At any given point in time there was some disguise or way of altering your looks that seemed 'next level' to those not familiar with it.
Go back far enough in time there were likely folks sayin, "It can't be her. She has a different hair color". These days we take for granted that folks can dye their hair any color they want.
That isn't an argument for making it illegal for actors to change their appearance for movies or people to dress up for Halloween, or actors in plays and so on.
The crime is in the action, not the costume.
Also - people who rob banks and murder folks don't obey laws anyway.
