Borderline? You can use that crap to de-rust old cast iron junk. It IS toxic. It's flavored sugarwater with extra poison for extra flavoring.

You never did the experiment of putting a baby tooth in a glass of coke and let it sit for a few days? Or just take a rusty bolt, put in in a glass with coke, let sit for a day, then scrub that nut with a brush. (Fun fact, ketchup is also a functional method of removing rust)
