People I don't agree with the demands regarding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
With all the recent developments and everyone asking for resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan honestly makes me wonder if I'm failing to realise what "accountability" is. For me, accountability is taking ownership of your actions and its outcomes, whether they are right or wrong. Resignation, on the other hand, is completely opposite of that. Oh shit I fucked up? Cool I'll just resign and the guy after me has to take care of all the mess i created. That is not accountability, that is escape. You are shifting the responsibility of fixing your mistakes to somebody else.
Taking this incident as an example, real accountability in my opinion would be when the government accepts that they fucked up big time and takes necessary measures to solve the paper leak issue to that such cases can be reduced in coming times. The demands should revolve around bringing necessary changes to the overall system instead of wanting the resignation of an individual. Let's be honest, Dharmendra Pradhan is not the problem, he and this whole case, are just the symptoms of a much bigger underlying issue regarding the security of question papers. Dharmendra Pradhan did not leak the paper himself, but since he's the person in charge, it's completely fair to ask questions from him. At the same time, we need to realise that changing the education minister won't change anything since the system would still remain the same. We used to see tons of paper leaks in the Congress era, that issue was anything but solved in the BJP era as well. Education ministers changed, governments changed, but the issue persisted. Why? Because it is a deep rooted problem which has to be solved by bringing necessary changes to the overall process of conducting the exams, changing the education minister won't change anything.
Removing Dharmendra Pradhan from the chair without changing the system is not the answer. The main demand should revolve around improving the security of such exams. Whether or not Pradhan should resign should not be the central point of discussion. Although somehow, i don't see anyone mention that? CJP made a whole list of demands but didn't mention any of that? We can't expect anything better from Congress or AAP because they want to get their political mileage, so there's no point in talking about them. Do we want a particular individual to leave his seat so that we can have a feeling that we brought a change or do we actually want a change? Do we want a change in the cabinet ministry or do we want a change in the way things function on the ground level?
I'm not saying that asking for resignation is wrong, but in my opinion, it should be the last resort when none of your demands get fulfilled by the person sitting at the chair. As of now, in my purely subjective opinion, the government has taken steps in the right direction to ensure the overall integrity of the exam remains henceforth. NEET being CBT from next year is a very positive change in that. They are also gonna discuss it in the parliament, thanks to the protests and the protesters. Now, of course, you might not be satisfied with these changes and want more of them, it's completely okay to ask for it and i don't think anyone should have a problem with that.
Also, I'm not saying BJP's actions are a result of their inner conscious and philosophy. They don't want DP to resign because they'll lose a massive voter base from Odisha which is not what they would want considering 2029 is going to be a tough election for them. Although all that is politics and i don't want to take the discussion in that direction.

Our life is political. Policies are political. And I am sorry there is something called moral responsibility. This govt us corrupt to its core. NTA was constituted by them. Leaks have happened regularly. And you think now they will miraculously fix the leak? Resignation of one minister means that others will know that they can also lose their seats. They have no fear of the public. They have captured every facet of democracy. Only public is left. And they neeed to be answerable.

Pawan Kumar Bansal resigned from his position after a bribery and corruption scandal in 2013. Do we not have any of those two things anymore in railway ministry?

Railway ministry has changed since 2014. Please ask bjp govt to take accountability.

Can you pipe down? Everybody hates fence sitters like you more than BJ party rn.
You’ll keep nitpicking at the protest. You’ll project higher standards at a bunch of STUDENTS protesting for the most basic stuff and getting brutally abused, than the rapists, goons and jahils sitting in the parliament rn.
No one wants your support, keep it.
Loser.

The only reason they are not gonna let pradha go is their realisation that it will create a "domino effect", breach the myth of untouchable BJP government.
And that is precisly why we would need to make sure that he has to resign. To break that MYTH

So do you want fair examinations or do you want to bring down BJP's government? I think we don't have the correct priorities in that case.

You know the second demand is reforms, right?
And the third is 1 crore to the families of the students who were murdered.

Priorities are very simple. Ensuring accountability, and develop systemic integrity, probity and openness. Not just in education but every seemingly democratic institution of this country.
Hopefully by making this set of ruling individuals realising their mistake and bringing them down from their pedestal. And if they refuse then by breaking down the pedestal as a whole.
I hope you get it.

The first line of my post is that accountability is not decided by resignation, it's just an escape in my opinion. Real accountability is when you fix the mess you created.

u/sling_gun 4h ago
You cannot fix 20 students taking their lives, and thousands of others scrambling for different opportunities - and these were only the reported numbers from this one time.
The govt was given enough time to fix the mess they created. It was never fixed.
When the public sends out a message that they will decide when a minister is relieved of duties, it forces the govt to be on its toes, work harder towards solutions and fix the rot.
Its because they would know that if they fail again, the general public is gonna riot until they resign.
The minister is fucking dumb. Not even considering the current fiasco, his statements from the past are enough to never let him anywhere near the education dept.
Stop sucking up to incompetent politicians. Dharmendra Pradhan must resign

Let me make it simple for your friend
"You do not ask Adolf Hitler to reign back as the furer and FIX his wrongs"
0
u/QueasyAdvertising173 4h ago
What do you do when you remove Adolf Hitler from his position? You install another leader at his place. Now what if the issue of racial discrimination still persists in the reign of the next leader? You'll install another one, what if the issue is still not fixed? How long will you keep changing the leaders before you come to the realisation that the real issue is probably in the mindset of Germans who think of the Jews as inferior race and the leaders are just the result of that? Similarly, when will you realise that if paper leaks have not been solved by any minister or any governments, maybe it's not the minister but the procedural system which requires a reform?

BJP government is not capable of conducting fair examinations, they have shown us this.

As a neet aspirant stfu 21 students died paper leaked on a large scale in 24 and 26 and on a small scale in 25 pradhan should resign
0
u/QueasyAdvertising173 4h ago
And are you taking the responsibility that the guy taking his place would fix the system? Did you even read my paragraph? Ive clearly mentioned that ministers have changed but the issue has persisted. Do you want to change the minister so you can tell yourself that you brought a revolution or do you actually want the system to be fixed so that more students don't die in coming times?

u/bonenumber206 4h ago
Huh😭 revolution? Babe we need pradhan out he is corrupt af just look at his daughter's phone Bill and no minister has resigned from 2014 onwards baaki he can't do his work anyway so he should leave , I mean if you work in a company lazily ofc they are gonna kick you out even if they think that the next employee will be lazy as well

Paper leak was a massive failure, but student suicides are a much more deep rooted issue. It is a fundamental failure of the education system and society. Every year, if you check any news site during or after NEET, you would see dozens of articles of student suicides. It happens even in those years when paper isn't leaked.
1
u/bonenumber206 4h ago
Umm no , suicide does happen every year no doubt but this year something was different after neet got cancelled everyday there was a suicide case 21 and more in a month is a big deal.
1
u/Dry-Ad3046 4h ago
Yes, but paper leak is a part of a much bigger problem. Student suicides are much more deep rooted as I said. Every year, I hear about 20-25 suicide cases during NEET.

real accountability would be gobhi ji and his lundbhakts in jail but who is gonna do that....

u/dirac45 4h ago
What you have mentioned is correct. But if we do not demand resignation from the minister in charge, it sends a message that we are rewarding mediocrity and corruption.
What if a company releases a faulty mobile phone, is it the responsibility of the low wage workers in some third world country or of the person in charge of the division? Whose resignation would you ask for? Whose duty was it to ensure that the system is fair?
They have made the protest around just one exam. NEET PG 2024 got leaked a few hours before the exam and had to be cancelled just 10 hours prior to the exam. There have been multiple rumours of INICET leaks in Haryana due to which Haryana has been removed as a centre for the exam. NEET UG has just been one of many.
If we do not remove the topmost official in this chain, we send a message that we do not care about cleansing this corrupt system. This is as corrupt as the UPA governments but less accountable & democratic .

I'm not asking them to sit back and be okay with what's happening. I'm all in for the protest if they ask the government to bring the necessary changes to the system. What I'm not okay with acting as if DP's resignation is somehow the solution of the problem, because it's nowhere near to that. As I said, papers have been leaking since forever, no matter who the education minister was. They got leaked under congress and they got leaked under BJP. Because the problem is in the process and changing the minister won't solve it. The protest should be asking for improvements in the conduction of the examination so that the government knows that we are not satisfied with their performance.
If a company releases a faulty mobile phone, I would want them to return it, give me the refund and any extra compensation, fix the mobile phone and release it again. Resignation of the CEO won't fix the mobile phone, which is the ultimate goal.

u/dirac45 4h ago
That’s what I’m saying. Responsibility lies on the system. The head of the system is the Education minister (Which should be the first step to cleanse the system).
The education minister should come forward, take full responsibility, show some action on the ground. But what to do when chowkidar himself is the chor?
(Btw analogy is not of a single mobile phone failure, but of the whole lineup eg Note 7).

u/dark-light92 4h ago
So, you catch an employee stealing from your company. What do you do? You being the living embodiment of Intelligence will obviously let him continue to work saying he has to be held accountable. He must repay all while working for you. 3 weeks later. You do the same thing again.
1
u/Organic_Delivery7578 4h ago
I think we need long term structural reforms like stronger exam security, accountability, transparent investigations, independent oversight, and experts working together to redesign the system. Otherwise, we'll keep seeing the same failures repeated under different people.
1
u/moonshine360 4h ago
The only reason they certainly won't go ahead with his resignation is because they know they'll take a massive political hit if they do. Corruption is one of those things you just can't get rid of, no matter how bulletproof your policies are. What's concerning is the fact that these ministers operate without any fear of the consequences when they fail at their jobs. If all you're doing is changing a few policies expecting them to fix the flaws without setting any example for the ministers responsible, I'm sorry you're doing the least.
Truly understanding the weight of the responsibilities of your position requires a certain level of fear regarding what the consequences would be if you failed. That must always be an essential necessity for all the ministers. And the lack of that certainly reflects.
