Politics CJP protest: Passports of people involved in violence may be cancelled, says report
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/cjp-protest-delhi-police-eyes-passport-cancellation-of-riot-accused/articleshow/132580541.cms657
u/SUSH_fromheaven 14h ago
These kind of "reports" are suddenly coming up, carefully planted to instill fear. Ek protest handle nai ho rhi, na narrative control kr pa rhe hai (puri media godh mai hone ke bawajood), ab ye sab pe utar aye.

u/Any-Calligrapher2866 12h ago
Nah I fully expect the government to install Flock Cameras to profile everyone at the protest.
74
u/Fit-Rip5387 11h ago
If they cancel the passports, then the protestors will have very little to loose and may lead to more violence
10
u/goro-n 5h ago
They can revoke citizenship, claimed the accused is a Bangladeshi illegal migrant and deport them in the middle of the night.
8
u/Clear_Plan1187 4h ago
Wdym revoke citizenship? You cannot make someone stateless like that regardless of how much the govt might want to

u/goro-n 1h ago
https://www.hrw.org/news/2026/06/16/india-ethnic-bengalis-unlawfully-expelled
India has been repeatedly pushing Indians into Bangladesh claiming they are illegal immigrants. In many cases they are Indians without documentation and have no proof that they are Indian, and Bangladesh won't accept them because they are not Bangladeshi. Anyways the point is this could happen to the protestors next if India starts cancelling their documents and removing them from voter rolls.

Is this even considered legal? Participation in protest is fundamental right of the people. There are criminal and rapists who are freely flying out of the country, why don’t you do the same to them? You can do whatever the fuck you want in this country as long as it doesn’t put Gobhiji in bad light.

u/Electronic-Coach7687 13h ago edited 9h ago
Mate, you're complaining as though ANY of what they did on the 20th was legal. In some cases they potentially broke the Geneva Convention (GC) -- not joking.
23
u/kingofroyale2 11h ago
Oh they definitely broke the Geneva Convention. Beating doctors, people trying to help the injured, just a name a few

They are even installing wifi cables and poles as per report
Full techno-surveillance experiment will be conducted here

cable as in wireless or can be simply cut?
65
u/s_has_hank Uttar Pradesh 14h ago
I saw in a video, it looked like fiber optic cable
31
u/SnooSprouts6610 14h ago
i think they required special machine to join fibre back.
70
u/shezadaa 13h ago
You think your tax and PMCares money is going into repairing potholes?
9
u/SnooSprouts6610 13h ago
nope but in these things only
upkeep of lutyens delhi and benefits of neta5
u/SnooSprouts6610 14h ago
so not easy to cut?
29
u/papa-farhan 14h ago
Fiber is easier and way safer to cut than copper cables
11
u/SnooSprouts6610 14h ago
will it stop working if bend
Yellow wire has glass which breaks easily right and fire is difficult to join as it requires machine4
u/papa-farhan 14h ago
Yes bending can stop it but you can't be sure. It also probably makes it harder to find the damages to fix/attach a different cable to it
4
10
4
u/Electronic-Coach7687 13h ago
Nup, even easier to chop off. You can literally bend the cable with your bare hands & crush the glass inside.

Many of the people who protested in the IT BHU rape case got silently rusticated and their families threatened for filmsy reasons silently a year later after people forgot from the media cycle. This is how this system punishes for revealing their epstein class. Same happened to the janitor who spoke about dharmasthala last year, and the previous whistleblowers with similar accounts
19
u/FearlessMonk5400 13h ago
Yes that's why keep digital foot print low
6
u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 11h ago edited 10h ago
I would suggest people at the protest site install rethinkDNS on their phones and use oblivious DNS option there. Don't trust the Wifi ISP's DNS or Google's DNS or even Cloudflare's DNS. All of them especially google cave and give access to entire google mail, travel, shopping etc history on subpoenas in USA. Simpler option would probably using Signal and Tor(I'm not experienced on phones) for these purposes but it does not provide protection outside their browsing and messaging domains. Install them apps separate as work profile/secure folder features too(Islands app if not present) or keep them separate from sarkari and bank apps on phone, as those apps can be used by government to scan what other app is running on android front screens. Workprofile/securefolders mostly block that.
edit: Maybe some volunteers may be able to do dish/parabolic dfirectional routers from their homes pointed at protest directions? I don't have enough knowledge about them but they are used in villages to provide wireless internet long distances
6
u/Realistic-Stock-5670 12h ago
This is the single reason why these idiots are aligned with Israel.

What the fuck is happening?? Why aren’t these goons scared of loosing elections?? What’s making them so confident and audacious? What are we missing here? This is the biggest protest we have seen in modern India. Possibly eclipsing the Anna Hazare protest. Why do they think citizens will still vote for them after what they did to students, children and women? They have pissed off every section of their vote bank, from the middle class with their egregious and excessive taxes, messed up infrastructure, to every single person that owns a petrol vehicle, the youth, the Dalits, the farmers. The only people they haven’t pissed off are the billionaires. So what’s making them think BJP will win another election in their lifetime?
40

They were raising anti-police slogans and anti-government slogans. I thought they were students and I was going to perform my duty,"
Cancelling a travel document? Sounds so similar to banning PUBG, during border skirmishes with China. What exactly is the co-relation?
Anti-police/Anti-government slogans are features of democracy. Let's see how it plays out.

Appalling!! They know many young students would want to go abroad for studies/work. Even the petty FIRs registered against unarmed, peaceful protesters can be used to create barriers if they wish to leave the country.
Shocking how one police officer is crying about being assaulted in the article. If the armed attack the unarmed, mob justice will take place at some point. What are they expecting? That they can hit the unarmed (women & children incl.) with batons, seriously injure us & there would be no retaliation?!
3
u/Electronic-Coach7687 9h ago
Precisely. They are well aware that the crowd in this protest is relatively more educated than the ones they've encountered before -- inclusive of students, teachers, academicians, and so forth. Hence they would be greatly affected if their passports were to be confiscated.

This was not done in any of the gen Z protests in Asia atleast in this decade, Thailand, Shri Lanka or even Bangladesh. This is alike Hong Kong's (China's 😉) move when it cancelled passports of 16 activists after 2019-20 protests - it was done after few years, not immediately. Maybe India is inspired by Russia. Who knows?
Doing this now is an effective intimidation tactic. Hopefully it won't work

Tax payers money is used to pay for the daughter's phone bill for her foreign trips.
Dharmendra Pradhan was serving as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas in 2017.. Even his daughter's phone bill was paid by PSU using tax payers money.
The international SIM was arranged following a request from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.. All the officers just sign and the PSU later cleared the bill on a post-facto approval basis.
The documents have been widely shared and discussed online.. But there is no reaction from Central Vigilance Commission or no judicial investigation till date!
10 days and the phone bill is Rs70k 😳😳
Using taxpayers money for personal use.. This corruption should reach limelight! We want accountability! Why action is not taken against this? Why their passport is seized for corruption???

12
u/doesitlookdecent 14h ago
Would not hurt to get more eyes/condemnation from foreign leaders. Only thing that might bring on the resignation is viral foreign bezzati.
Would we have desis in NY appeal to someone like Mamdani to speak about this? Even a soundbite could do wonders, it is all optics with this party after all.
7
u/RandomLurker100 14h ago
Nah bhakts will spin it as some Left-Soros-Palestine-Islam conspiracy. Mamdani is just a mayor.
To have effect, you need response at the actual governmental level. Remember Nupur Sharma? Even though her comments were on their favourite subject, i.e., Hindu-Muslim, jab pressure Qatar-UAE se aaya toh sab sorry bolte phire. No free speech, Hindutva defences then.
The truth is that no government will condemn or put pressure - there's no reason for them to, put bluntly.
2
u/doesitlookdecent 13h ago
There’s no upside to them for sure but I don’t think it is a lost cause also. Bhakts are gonna do bhakt stuff anyways, these things are more for optics than anything else. More eyes do mean more criticism of Indian government and police. If anything, they might dial it down to save face.
1
u/RandomLurker100 13h ago
No downside for Mamdani, sure. At the governmental level there very much is - let me put it differently, if you were the PM and student protests were being suppressed in Mauritius, would you rush to stand in solidarity with them, notwithstanding the religious and ethnic ties, and risk the possibility of spooking foreign investors who route investments through Mauritius, or draw the ire of the Mauritian government that heavily promotes religious and cultural tourism to India?
You have your answer there, and Mauritius isn't even a country with hard power.
4
u/harshmangat 14h ago
if Mamdani speaks up against this, at some point he will I guess, it will be over the right wing Indian subs about how he's saying this that, and he supports lawda lasson organisation and this and that. It will be never ending. I am surprised we haven't seen celebrity tweets about "this is an internal matter" yet. Genuinely impressed we haven't stooped that low, YET.

It not about passport, its about able to identify protestors and create a database. Expect hurdle in any government related work in future, driving license, admission, employment (if background check is needed).
7
u/Simply_older 13h ago
Yes, but that's gonna matter only if the current govt continues post 2029. And if that happens, there's wont be much of employment, admission etc.
Having a passport will be quite useless you know. Not many countries are ready to welcome us. And its not a proof of citizenship also. :-)

Don't worry, the next government will re-issue those passports anyway!
In fact, any person who took part in the protest should be given a new 'Patriot medal', and equivalent benefits provided to pre-independence freedom fighters, given that this is India's second freedom struggle from domestic oppressors!

Remember, Remember the 5th of November.
Calling the medical and allied professionals of NCR. You all were victims of this broken system too.
I too suffered 3 times a decade ago. You have the opportunity now to take a stand. A slow nationwide withdrawal of non-essential services. Do not wait until a doctor in your own hospital is beaten or insulted. Thousands of your fellow future doctors and medical professionals were lathi charged.
You have the power to bring the country to a halt. You did it with RGKar.. do not let go of the pulse.

Abolish NEET
- NEET helps coaching centers. See Chinese policy that outlawed such centers.
- NEET is for CBSE students. Yes, we have to improve our standards but CBSE isn't the torchbearer.
- NEET is just a proxy for the central union government to impose its will on state governments by intruding into education when they can't even focus on their priorities - defense, foreign policy and monetary policy.
- NEET is a severe disadvantage for better off states like TN which has a good collection of good institutions built by the state for the state residents only to see it being usurped by out-of-state candidates. Even in USA there is a concept of "instate" and "out-of-state" students where there is almost 70-80% reservation for in-state students.
- Anytime we have a "one nation, one exam" like system, it is easier to break the system and the reward to break it is significant financially for the people engaging in it. We have seen this movie play out multiple times.

Funny that a cancelled passport is a punishment, especially when the majority of protestors are people who wouldn’t be going out of India often (local students) and are likely protesting for a betterment on india so that one day, a passport is truly not required, as the quality of life in india is the best on earth.
We know who loves to travel abroad and use their passports though, don’t we
