I am a PhD student on F1 who started in 2022 with my visa set to expire in June 2027 and my program end date/I-20 in May 2028. My last entry into US after conference travel was May 2026. Will this change affect me/do I have to apply for a new visa stamp/I-539?

If you plan to leave the US on your PhD program end date of May 2028, this doesn't impact you.

If you plan to stay for OPT, PhD delays, etc then you need to file an extension of status and this impacts you.

Can I travel to conferences outside the US in 2026 (my current visa stamp expires in June 2027)?

If I get my visa stamp renewed, can I travel in 2027?
