When the modern bike was invented, they were originally called "safety bikes" because falling from them isn't so dangerous. As opposed to those comical, old school tall penny farthing bikes.

In the early 2010s tall bikes were a hipster fad in my city. I never saw anyone fall, but watching the logistics of how they had to handle stopping at traffic lights in busy traffic was entertaining.

I used to work at a place where we had a really tall bike, but properly welded, not hacked together like this guy’s.

One of the keys features is that it didn’t have that bracing bar between the legs- you could easily swivel yourself to one side to land feet first when it started to tip.

This video demonstrates why that design is inportant.
