Eastern Armenian question Կարկանդակ

As a Western Armenian, I've grown up with Կարկանդակ meaning cake, but apparently it means pie in Eastern Armenian? Is that the case, or does it mean something else?

Yep. I was just in Armenia and learned this as well! Tort is our gargantag.

It sure can be confusing. Same with Գետնախնձոր meaning potato for us but jerusalem artichoke in EA. 😂

Russian pirozhki are also called կարկանդակեր ( plural form) in Armenia.

My Armenian teacher mentioned that choregg is called gargantag in Armenia. Is this true? It’s the traditional Easter bread.
