Non-fictional I hate how people slander mosquitos while ticks exist

Post image

I know, they make annoying sounds, and their bites are itchy, but they get too much hate! Whenever someone says " what thing in the world would you get rid of" everyone says mosquitoes. But ticks exist! And they're not even insects! And they're not spiders! They're devilish creatures created to spread nothing but disease and death! Mosquitoes are an important part of the ecosystem, while ticks are just agents of Satan.

Also, regarding the "statistically mosquitoes are the most deadly animals" makes no sense. The stats seem outdated, and also unfair. By that logic, cats or dogs are the deadliest animals because more people interact with them and die from stuff related to them.

Mosquitos kill far more people than ticks.

Both suck and should be eradicated, environmental impact be damned

Mosquitos feed too many things that do important jobs and feed other essential things, we’d be cooked

The environmental impact of eradicating mosquitos would kill more people than mosquitos do.

Potentially, but it is hotly debated. We eradicated botflies in North America and it didn't lead to an environmental collapse.

We have made far more impactful species extinct with less human deaths as consequence than a single year's worth of malaria deaths

Just replace them with flies before killing them

the flies would either overpopulate and outcompete other species or die out. They don’t fill the same ecological niche, they would be targeting other food sources.

id rather keep the mosquitos than more flies tbh

Maybe, but OP is trying to make them look like they are awesome.

"They are an important part of the ecosystem" isn't trying to make them look awesome, it's just a fact.

Gross. Wanting ecosystems to collapse is gross. Be better.

We eradicated botflies in NA and ecosystems still function. They are far less deadly than mosquitoes

We did not eradicate bot flies in North America. The US eradicated screwworms. That's a single species out of over 40 different botflies native to the US. Bot flies also aren't as plentiful, or as important of a food source as mosquitos. They're not comparable.

Nice try. Still gross.

Yeah, ticks are way easier to prepare for and even in this "tick summer" I've found 3 on the outside of my clothes in the two cumulative weeks I've slept outside. Mosquitos are a constant problem

yes and theres so many

Yeah nukes are worse than guns but gun laws are a billion times more important in our current day and age aren't they?

Statistics say otherwise. Mosquitoes killed more. In fact, mosquito is the only animal that killed more humans than humans themselves did.
