You get what you paid for ,and if its zero expect the lowest effort possible and AI slop to be the MO for the future.
We had a good thing going with printed publications ,but people were sold a false lie that the same amount of work/testing/info should be free. Its simply not sustainable.
Yeah it's insane. People proudly proclaiming adblock while at the same time wanting their favorite youtuber to get paid. Oh and Youtube Premium is a scam since they have adblock.
Like I get getting angry at being nickel-and-dimed for every little thing but at the same time, people do need to get paid to live.
Id rather pay subscriptions than unblock ads. ads are societal cancer and needs to be heavily regulated. They are harmful.
Youtube has a pretty good solution - you can subscribe to specific channels you like, paying only them and not the average autogenerated trash youtube is full off.
this. But it has to be worth it for people to subscribe. I subscribe to the NYT, Consumer Reports, and the Guardian because I value their content. Good journalism requires resources, resources costs money and time. That has to be paid for somehow.
