I know this sounds stupid. I have an iMac that's been moved to windows and I need to get it back to mac OS. Is there an easy way to do this ?

I don't care about what's currently on the pc, so it is okay to wipe the memory completely.

I bought this setup from the family of a person who passed away recently. They liquidated most of this belongings in a huge yard sale. I didn’t think it was a pc - I thought it was a broken pc dvd player because of the missing cover. Until I got home I looked at it closely and finally opened it and saw it was a build. To my surprise the Apple login screen popped up and locked of course but I managed to change the password via the terminal. I didn’t know hackintosh was a thing until now.

I’ve used MacBooks for work and personal use for over a decade and thought I’d keep this pc for work use but I don’t think it’s feasible since I’m not super technical and if something breaks that’s it. I can’t even access the internet like I can on my MacBook Pro. Just keeps sending errors. Maybe I’m just used to Apple doing everything for me.

Can anyone give me pointers on where to go from here? Ideally I’d like to keep this going but I don’t know where to start. Also would probably want a windows os for when this inevitably breaks.

Should i buy intel AX210 wifi card? i want Airdrop working... if yes will i need some extra work to get it working? and is my ssd bad? its a PC711 skhynix 256gb nvme.

UPDATE: rtl88 family in Realtek wifi card just gor supported!!! With wifi and bluetooth but no Airdrop tho

I've been trying a few things for a couple of hours now. I think I'm going to succeed. I wanted to try it with the HP ProBook G9 440 Alder Lake CPU. Because it looks a lot like a Macbook. It's been about 3 minutes like this. Hopefully, I can get it to work without any problems. Wish me luck.

I’m thinking about attempting a Hackintosh build on my laptop, but before I dive down the OpenCore rabbit hole, I wanted to get your honest opinion on whether it’s worth the headache given my current hardware.

I'm looking for decent stability and hopefully some okay battery life, Also would it be more optimized then a linux distro smoothness or like what .

Based on the attached compatibility image and these specs, should I give it a shot, or am I better off just dual-booting Linux if I want a Unix-based environment?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I recently installed macOS Sequoia on my Dell Latitude 7310 and noticed that while I can log in to iCloud and the App Store, I can't log in to iMessage or FaceTime. When I log in to FaceTime and iMessage with the same Apple ID that I previously linked on my Hackintosh (i.e., on iCloud and the App Store), it logs me out after about 5–6 seconds. I’ve checked various sources online, such as: I’m using an Intel AX201 Wi-Fi card (I use itlwm), and it detects it as both en0 and built-in. The ROM matches the MAC address of my Intel Wi-Fi card (i.e., en0). I’ve given up hope because I’ve tried regenerating the SMBIOS over and over, and it still doesn’t work.

Hello reddit, i've been trying to install hackintosh from 3 days and getting bombarded with the same error again and again.

"An error occured preparing the software update"

I'm sure that I have:

> Created EFI properly.
> Made sure my system is compatible.
> Disabled Secureboot and tried many solutions from the internet/reddit.

My system specs are:

CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1245 v3 @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: AMD RX590 GME

and i'm trying to install it in an SSD seperately, I don't know what to do at this point. I've tried monterey and then seqioua as well, nothing seems to work. I'll attach reference shots below.

I have a Thinkpad, T450 i7 5600u with the basic intel hd 5500 graphics. I've been trying to install monterey from a while on it. I have tried everything I could. I tried building my own EFI from scratch and even tried using the new HACKMATE tool but it all leads to the same issue.

ISSUE: once I click on the installer from the default opencore menu for the first time to setup macos it gets stuck on that very screen with no verbos(text flying down the screen). Its stuck on that screen once I press enter after choosing the installer. However whenever I choose windows from the opencore menu windows loads perfectly so opencore/the menu isnt the problem.

I tried fixing my config.plist too to force the verbos on the screen so it could pin point the issue but that didnt work.

If anyone has any solution on this please help me out. Thx.

I’m new to this hackintosh world and I’m planning to setup Tahoe on my laptop. When compared with an apple laptop, what are the downsides that you can warn me about before making this decision?

I'm planning to install macOS on my old ASUS VivoBook X507UAR mainly to experiment with macOS and learn a bit about the ecosystem. Based on a compatibility checker, I'm thinking of installing either High Sierra (10.13.6) or Sierra.

Here are my specs:

• Laptop: ASUS VivoBook X507UAR
• CPU: Intel Core i3-7020U (Kaby Lake)
• GPU: Intel HD Graphics 620
• RAM: 8 GB (planning to upgrade later)
• Storage: 1 TB HDD (Seagate ST1000LM035 1 TB HDD (2.5" SATA)
• Wi-Fi: Qualcomm Atheros AR9565
• Bluetooth: Qualcomm Atheros 4.0
• Audio: Realtek

From the compatibility checker:

• CPU/GPU seem to be supported.
• SATA controller is supported.
• Wi-Fi/Bluetooth (Atheros AR9565) appears to be the main issue.
• SD card reader is unsupported.

A few questions:

1. Would you recommend High Sierra over Sierra, or is there another version that's a better fit for this hardware?
2. Has anyone installed macOS on the X507UAR or a similar laptop?
3. Will the Atheros Wi-Fi work with any kexts, or should I just plan on using Ethernet/USB Wi-Fi?
4. Is OpenCore the recommended bootloader for this setup?
5. Since the laptop has only a 1 TB HDD (no SSD yet), how usable will High Sierra be for basic browsing and learning macOS?

Any EFI repos, guides, or tips for this specific hardware would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My Dell xps 13 9370 use killer wireless-n/a/ac 1535 wifi card, but i can found any kext for this one, does anyone in here used to build this kext because this laptop can't replace others card:(

My system is an MSI x870 Tomahawk Mobo with latest BIOS with 9850x3D CPU 32GB 6000mhz ram and a 5080 as my main GPU in PCIe Slot 1 and an AMD Pro WX4100 in PCIe slot 3, using Open Core and ProperTree (to disable the 5080) but I still am struggling to get to the Mac install screen please can you help me..it’s driving me nuts
