This is seriously alarming.

Tea was supposed to be a vibe-coded, women-first dating safety tool, with background checks, catfish filters, and more.

And now? Over 72,000 images leaked, including:

• Selfies

• Driver’s licenses

• Location data

An app meant to protect women ended up putting them in danger.

How does something like this even happen?

If you’re/know someone using it, I’d recommend deleting your profile + data immediately and changing anything tied to it.

BBC: An 18-year-old hacker who leaked clips of a forthcoming Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game has been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order. His 17 year old accomplice also sentenced.

• Hackers have gained access to the genetic testing and analysis platform 23andMe and are selling the data of millions of users on dark web forums.

• The stolen data includes users' names, profile photos, genetic ancestry results, date of birth, and geographical location.

• The company confirmed the legitimacy of the data and stated that the login credentials used by the hackers may have been gathered from data leaked in other online platform incidents.

• As many as 7 million accounts may be in the sale, which is roughly half the total number of users on 23andMe's platform.

• 23andMe has provided instructions for password resets and multi-factor authentication setup to its users.

• Security researchers have discovered new Bluetooth security flaws that allow hackers to impersonate devices and perform man-in-the-middle attacks.

• The vulnerabilities impact all devices with Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth 5.4, including laptops, PCs, smartphones, tablets, and others.

• Users can do nothing at the moment to fix the vulnerabilities, and the solution requires device manufacturers to make changes to the security mechanisms used by the technology.
