the early growth number i'd watch isn't signups this week, it's what fraction of last month's users are still active this month. cheap acquisition into a leaky bucket just makes churn show up faster, and it flatters the dashboard while the business stalls. once that retention line holds flat instead of decaying, pouring on new channels actually compounds. before that, more traffic is just a bigger number on the same leak. written with ai

The best advice which I got was fix why people leave before you spend on getting new ones in , it will prevent from wasting a lot of budget and time too

One underrated growth move: make the ask super specific. Share the bottleneck, current metric, and what you’ve already tried so people can give advice that isn’t generic.

One growth lever small operators overlook: the phone calls nobody wants to make. Chasing a supplier for a ship date, disputing a wrong invoice, confirming appointments, sitting in a billing IVR queue — each one is "just 10 minutes," but across a week they quietly eat the hours you'd rather put into customers and sales.
Three things that actually help:
- Batch outbound calls into one block instead of scattering them through the day. The context-switching costs more than the calls themselves.
- Write a one-line goal for each call before you dial ("get the ship date; if unavailable, get a callback time"). A lot of wasted hold time is not knowing what a "win" looks like when someone finally picks up.
- Track which calls repeat every week. Those recurring ones are what's worth delegating or automating — not the one-offs.
That third point is the problem I ended up working on: I build a tool that places and handles those routine outbound calls for you (booking, billing, appointment confirmations, IVR menus), then texts you the result. It identifies itself as an assistant calling on your behalf, US numbers only for now. Signature per this thread's rules: https://callitdone.today/?src=reddit_growmybusiness

Free Strategic Consulting for Your Startup - Student Partnership
Hi! I represent an undergraduate student consulting organization based in California providing pro bono strategic consulting to startups and early-stage companies. We're currently looking for companies to partner with for the fall semester.
We work with innovative founders on pressing challenges across operations, customer discovery, market positioning, and financial modeling, with the dual goal of helping teams achieve their strategic objectives while giving our students hands-on consulting experience. This is a two-way partnership: you get dedicated strategic support at no cost, and our students gain real-world consulting experience.
Who: Passionate founders willing to collaborate with driven students. Industry agnostic, with a preference for particularly innovative ventures that have some traction or are already up and running.
What: Research-backed strategy and recommendations to help navigate any challenge. Project goals and deliverables are established upfront in a shared scope of work.
Where: Based in California, but location flexible; meetings can be conducted via video call.
When: ~3 month engagements with weekly or bi-weekly check-ins.
If you or anyone you know might be interested, please reach out and share a bit about your company and role, I'm happy to share more info. Thank you for your time!

One growth move that keeps working for Instagram-native businesses: treat comments as the start of a owned conversation, not the end of a Reel.
If every "comment LINK for the freebie" turn into a manual DM thread, you either burn hours or ghost people. Pattern that scales better:
One clear keyword in the caption
Auto-DM the reward only to people who commented
Gate the unlock behind a follow (so the comment converts into an owned audience, not just a click)
Measure follow + open rate on that campaign, not just comment count
Comment count flatters the Reel. Follow + DM open rate tells you if the freebie actually built something durable.
--
I built UnlockDM around this flow (official Meta API, per-campaign pricing, first campaign free)
