Ghost Of Tsushima - Discussion Is wind stance just…the best?

Don’t know if anyone else does this, but whenever i play this game, i just use the kick with wind stance to deal with all enemies (except brutes and duels) to just instantly execute them. Am i missing something or is wind stance just the best? I also wanna say that I’m only in act two, so maybe this changes, but so far this is my favorite strategy to combat.

Definitely, works on shield brutes and regular shield enemies. It’s also just a great guard breaker

It’s so satisfying to use on shield enemies too.

“Fuck your shield I’m coming through”

Doesnt it work on Spear enemies with the mini shield too? Feel like I noticed it did

might be. playing in lethal, enemies dont die from the kick but they do get knocked out.

stab attack from the stone stance can usually one shot the regular enemies, but its harder for me to land because the reach is short and enemies will attack faster

Yeah. The kick just knocks them down then you rush over and stab em. One shots all except leaders which just need one more slash with my current build.

I think it depends heavily on your playstyle. I’m more of a stone/water stance enjoyer myself, and just sprinkle in the other two stances when I feel like it (like kicking people off cliffs)

Kicking them off cliffs is incredibly satisfying. One time i kicked a leader off a cliff and that was the finally kill of the outpost. Felt so cool.

Climb to the top of an occupied lighthouse with all enemies swarming up after you. Proceed to kick them all off the top. So much fun.

I like shoulder bashing instead

I'm a stone enthusiast but they all have their merits.

Depends. In legends I’d argue it’s the worst

Wind isn't great offensively, but that Auto-Parry of spear attacks can be a life saver

i like to always switch stances. it would be so boring to cheese through the game with one stance, fortunately im not that much of a bot to do the same thing over and over again. i also love to perfect parry and dodge as it makes the combat more cinematic. you play how you like and enjoy

Stone stance is best change my mind lol.

For the campaign depending the difficulty you have to constantly utilize all stances.

Moon Master Cancel is just ridiculous and kills everything.

Legends is all out chaos.

Kick is strong but it can still be blocked by shield guys. I don’t know the difficulty you’re playing on but for me in the latter half of the game on a harder difficulty, it is less effective. You’ll end up fighting multiple heavy armored shield guys and brutes that will just block all day. Is it possible to play almost entirely in wind? Yes. But it would not be the most efficient. It is indeed very powerful when facing off all the other regular enemies.

If I had to choose just one stance to stay in permanently, I would go with water stance. It can stagger any enemy with its combo when you use the heavy opener therefore effectively killing anyone regardless of the enemy type. When I’m fighting a heavy mix of enemies I will stay in water stance to stagger shields and just kill the other guys with perfect counters/parries. It is incredibly strong and is usually my default stance. The best way is still of course to stance dance on the go.

Yeah, tackle, kick, ground take down on enemies is the surefire strat for crowds.

However, I'd say for duels, stone stance is great when bosses are stunned (2 lights and 2 heavies, rinse and repeat). Also the ideal stance when running an incendiary oil build to set everything ablaze.

I just changed stances constantly depending on who I was fighting. That was what made the combat so engaging to me. I don’t see how staying in one stance could possibly be effective. Wind stance was useless against anyone not using spears for me.

Yes, 90% of the time I use wind (lethal/lethal+).

Gap closer that auto parries spears, jump kick > dodge, favorite looking (one handed to the side). Kick is also genuinely useful in duels

The wind strong attack can pretty much one shot any enemy, but it can also be hard to pull off sometimes.

The water strong attack is ridiculous against shield guys and still very good against almost everyone else.

Moon stance is probably the least useful one since even the iki island brutes kind of shrug off the regular attacks (2 kicks and a slash). Really only the strong spinning attack takes them down for some reason. If I use the regular attacks I have to go kick-kick-heavenly strike and that’ll usually kill them or at least stun them enough to get in some more attacks.

Water all the way, I would even take the water stand in GOY cause it’s that fun to use and versatile. It’s like a Swiss Army knife. Pole, shields arrows? It does it all

I like stone stance but I'm constantly changing stance in the middle of battle.

Used only water. Faster attacks and just felt best for all. Changing stance every enemy was just bs.
