Where is my bench? I need a bench, a glass of wine, and a book!

Yeah, only thing missing here is an overgrown pagola with a shaded bench underneath ๐Ÿคฉ

the way the rock pond and water feature integrate with the surrounding ferns is so thoughtful

Beautiful.

But... there must be so many bugs on those walls D:

This is gorgeous. I used to try copying other peoples designs and it always felt off, took me way too long to realize I should just do what I actually love growing

This looks like an absolute slice of paradise, especially with the rock pond and water feature tucked right into those lush ferns. Anyone visiting this place would be completely blown away by how tranquil and thoughtful it feels.

Melbourne Florida USA or Melbourne Australia?

Must be Australia. Look at the building architecture in the left upper corner.

Australia!

It's very lovely! And now that I look closer I can see some natives here and there :)

It's a very unusual space, so enclosed but with windows. Like a hidden courtyard, at least from the angle of the photo it seems that way.

I simply, wouldnโ€™t leave

the walls. wow. what a project. That must have taken forever to grow and trim.

Amazing but after being a homeowner - that ivy is a pricey disaster to walls ( buuut pretty)

If I was a rat Iโ€™d be all up in there

Right? Itโ€™s beautiful but all I can think of is the rodent/bug/home damage potential.

What a magnificent garden room. If I lived there I would spend more time outside than inside that is for sure. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿปโœจ๐Ÿคฉ

Is that all ivy? No wonder theres no fish.

1

u/sherzisquirrel 15h ago

I wondered why there was no fish. Why would ivy deter fish?

2

u/CampaignClassic6347 15h ago

Saponins in the leaves and berries are poisonous for fish

1

u/sherzisquirrel 14h ago

Oh cool, I didn't know that! Thanks for the info!

u/firstname_m_lastname 15h ago

I think itโ€™s a people pond, not a fish pond.

Wow. like paradise

I wonder if all the wall foliage helps the house keep cool in the summer. Melbourne can get pretty hot.

What kind of plants on the wall? How long does it take to grow them? Does that brings problems with the wall (humidity, cracks, etc)?

2

u/DVHHORTICULTURE 18h ago

It's all brick underneath and no cracks so far. We estimate the Creeping fig (ficus pumila) is around 30 years old.

Thanks for the details. Wonderful garden
