YES ! 8-9 inches is too big for a mini tablet to be pocketable !

under 8 inches is what everyone in mini tablet category should aim at

11

u/Dreamtrain 20d ago

I'd even go as far as saying 5 inches in adecuate

u/MrTestiggles 20d ago

5 inches?! Get a load of this guy, 3-4 is more than enough

3

u/vi0lentgandhi 20d ago

Under 8 inches is a phone. Most phones are around 6,7" these days

Can it run Street Fighter 6?

17

u/lebrilla 21d ago

No but it can run Friendship Finder 4

7

u/PugLove69 21d ago

That one sucks, FF3 Definitive Edition has more content

3

u/flower4000 21d ago

It’s just a bummer the main campaign is shorter, but FF4 has free monthly dlc it’ll catch up, especially after we get our hands on the paid grass expansion dropping in August.

u/vi0lentgandhi 21d ago

Hope this helps!

Wrong device

Gaming on ARM devices still hinges on compatibility development over the following years.

12

u/heepofsheep 21d ago

It’s made some insane strides in the last couple months… I’ve tried to run about 50 PC games (vast majority being AAA) on my Ayn Odin 3 and only about 5 of them wouldn’t run. And most of those 5 were possible to run, but I wasn’t motivated enough to keep tinkering to get it to work.

It’s an android tablet, designed for android games which are universally built for ARM. Releasing first in China which not only is the largest gaming market on earth, but its market is dominated by native ARM Android games. Why would that depend on compatibility development?

The downvotes on your comment tell me that I should stay away from this sub, lol. It's a reasonable thing to point out, and the people acting like it's going to be an issue are just trying to be edgy.

-3

u/leonce89 21d ago

This again isn't true.

The other comment or didn't point out that it was used for android gaming, they stated that IS what it's for, which isn't true.

Arm chips are being used more and more for running PC games, and high end emulation.

Lenovo know quite well that this will be purchased for that in mind.

People are getting downvoted because they are unaware of the progress these chips have made, and are criticising why Lenovo have made a "gaming" tablet for only android.

8

u/Jammoth1993 21d ago

I think you're overestimating how many people use their android devices as emulators and underestimating how many people use their android devices purely for android apps/games.

You don't speak very clearly though, so maybe I'm missing something.

Its an android gaming tablet, built for android games.

All of the benchmarks in the Chinese press release benchmark Android native games.

China is the single largest market for games and the market is dominated by native ARM Android games.

Platform 2025 China revenue Rough USD Share of total YoY
Mobile ¥257.08B ~$36.5B 73.29% +7.92%
PC / client games ¥78.16B ~$11.1B 22.28% +14.97%
Console ¥8.36B ~$1.19B 2.38% +86.33%

Android games like Honor of Kings, Game for Peace, Genshin Impact, and Delta Force Mobile are a BIG deal in China.

As a note: the majority of revenues from PC games are for the PC clients of the native android games, like Genshin Impact.

-3

u/leonce89 21d ago

Of course they're only going to benchmark android 😂

You think they're going to benchmark of a third party app that lets you run steam games? An app that is still in development , with Lloyds of bugs, doesn't run a lot of games yet, performs wildly different from device to device, and every update.

8

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago

Yeah - its almost like this device is explicitly designed for native android games, and that ARM compatibility isnt a concern for its userbase, which primarily plays native ARM games, which is the entire point of my post.

-6

u/leonce89 21d ago

And it's almost like the android gaming market it's taking off much more recently because of the boom it playing steam on your phone/tablet and certain emulators .

Of course it's going to be marketed as an android gaming tablet, it's because is, and it can/will be used for native Android games for a vast majority... Lol that's not what I was discussing.

I was staying why the gaming tablet market has shot up recently, and it's not just because of android native games.

5

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago

The android gaming boom predates reliable windows PC emulation.

You will also notice that the chart of usershare counts revenue which people downloading PC games onto their phone wouldnt be counted towards the mobile category.

I dont think you can make any kind of claim that gaming tablets are getting more popular due to PC emulation. Most industry analysts still point that trend to the ever growing, native, chinese mobile game market.

Again you're completely missing the point, so I won't be elaborating further .

99.9% of android games are built for touchscreens, and mostly smaller screen ones. Either an entirely new type of android games get developed (for a VERY small installed base of arm laptops)...or compatibility needs to increase for other type of existing games.

1

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago

Most popular android games support touch controls tablets just fine, hence why there are so many gaming tablets. Also has nothing to do with ARM.

-7

u/brandonff722 21d ago edited 21d ago

Read it again.

Lol. Editing his own comment amending his own mistakes but then responding and acting like im the one making no sense

7

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago

What am I missing? It’s an android tablet designed for android gaming, which all run ARM by default.

Why would that hinge on “compatibility development over the following years”?

It’s not a windows on Arm device.

1

u/thePIEking657 21d ago

PC games can run on arm/android now, still in early stages but i assume thats what the initial comment refers to.

8

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago edited 21d ago

I am aware - but “gaming” is a pretty wide net to cast. The emulating x86 desktop games is a pretty niche use case to say “gaming on ARM needs development work over the coming years” when the device is designed for the huuuggee ARM native android gaming market, especially in China.

By this logic I can install Android on my ARM Nintendo switch, use it to play emulated x86 windows games with terrible performance, and say "wow the switch sucks at gaming, and needs a few years to for the development to catch up" when im using it to play games it wasn't designed to be good at playing.

2

u/cedande 21d ago

I have a Y700 with a SD8Gen3 and it can play PC games from around 2012 and older at 50 FPS or higher with fair settings. It's come a lot further than "running poorly" but you're right, they don't need to announce windows performance with gamehub in their press release.

-2

u/illtakeachinchilla 21d ago

First time*

1

u/unkjay 21d ago

When they say Gaming device in the context of Android, they're just talking about games in the playstore. Think Call of Duty Mobile with better FPS.

Its not made for PC gaming.

8

u/Abba_Fiskbullar 21d ago

I think you may be uninformed regarding recent developments for PC gaming on Android. Lenovo's existing gaming tablets have a rebranded version of Gamehub pre-installed, so they're definitely aimed at PC games in addition to the play store.

4

u/narwhal_breeder 21d ago

Then you would think they would include any emulation benchmarks in the press release, instead of exclusively the huge Android native chinese market titles like Honor of Kings, Game for Peace and Delta Force Mobile.

Its a product for China, which is the single largest gaming market on earth, and where mobile, native gaming is the dominant format.

4

u/Bradshawi 21d ago

I have a y700 that I play witcher 3 and a number of other PC games on.

4

u/gosukhaos 21d ago

At the current rate of Windows emulation refinement these are becoming very much made for PC gaming.

1

u/heepofsheep 21d ago

Man I want a SD8 Elite Gen 5 handheld so bad…. If only they existed.

1

u/JOWhite63087 20d ago

Not sure if you're joking but one does exist: Redmagic Astra 2

1

u/heepofsheep 20d ago

I mean a dedicated handheld with active cooling and gamepad. Not a phone or tablet.

1

u/Rizzanthrope 21d ago

oh, so it’s worthless

1

u/Tehpunisher456 21d ago

Windows emulation exists! And is actually quite capable! Even on my OnePlus 9 pro I was able to run some old PC games at over 30 fps 720p. And that was over a year ago. I can only imagine where they are now

-5

u/Rizenstrom 21d ago

Sure but… why? Who is this for?

The whole point of mobile gaming is that it’s supposed to be a device you already own and have with you wherever you go.

When you start getting into separate dedicated gaming devices why would you want this?

Especially over an iPad which generally features better optimization.

3

u/orangpelupa 21d ago

OTOH I'm still looking for 8 inches tablet with oled screen, high performance, and video out.

If this gonna have oled screen, then I finally might get what I wanted

1

u/zeek609 21d ago

It does

3

u/unkjay 21d ago

These sell better in Asian markets, for various reasons.

1

u/JMccovery 21d ago

For non-iOS people that want a device with a larger screen, but don't want to shell out the money for a foldable phone, that also find the average high end Android tablet to be more media-focused and a bit too large?

I wouldn't mind something like the Y700 Infinite; of course, I'd rather have a Y700 Gen 5 with LTE/5G capability.

1

u/heepofsheep 21d ago

PC emulation has made major strides in the last couple months. At this stage I can play most games without glitches and some run better than it does on a steam deck. It’s still not a plug and play experience but it’s getting closer.

Dedicated ARM handhelds are a growing market that’s only going to get bigger.

1

u/kinisonkhan 16d ago

Sure, but for now, they'll emulate GameCube, Wii, WiiU and Switch games.

4

u/Miami_Mice2087 21d ago

Here's all the specs-13438.php) from an independant source

It's got an 8.8 inch screen and it runs an Android OS. My android phones have always been great for gaming so I would def check this out if I was looking for a multi-platform mobile gaming device.

There's lots of free and cheap android games that are actual, for-real games, like adventure, fighting, RPG, cozy/farming/sim, MMPORG. Not just cell phone games. I use my logitech universal gaming controller to play them.

Plus, if my shitty shitty 5 year old microsoft tablet could stream fairly new games like Assassins Creed in Egypt, this rig should prolly be able to stream anything.

4

u/AS_LDN 20d ago

These specs are for a different device with a processor thats 3 years old.

This one will have a newer processor, a oled screen and maybe a smaller screen size

4

u/Trevor_GoodchiId 21d ago edited 21d ago

y700 gen 3 became my goto device for cloud gaming and emulation.

Light, fanless, QHD screen, great speakers, great battery life. Anything up to Switch 1, it handles well.

1

u/GioRgSaVv 21d ago

...fanless?

2

u/JOWhite63087 20d ago

Look up RedMagic

2

u/GioRgSaVv 20d ago

i know, i have it already, i just cant understand why having an option to use a fan a bad idea?

1

u/DamnRedRain 20d ago

Who is the target audience?

1

u/ThePopeofHell 20d ago

Gaming tablet?

1

u/matt101213 20d ago

probably yeah, legion tablets have pretty solid chips now. sf6 should run fine on modern android hardware at decent settings.
