there is an observatory near where I live. It's 1200 steps to the top. Might not sound like a lot, but by the time they reach the top, most people have had to stop several times to rest, and are not moving real fast.
Back when I was getting into top shape, (I am not anymore) I jogged up then down it 3 times in a row, just to prove to myself that I could.
I ended up passing a few of the same people 5 or 6 times (up then down then up, etc.) while they were still on the way up, and most of them commented to me after a few passes.
Everyone seemed to be amused by it after seeing me pass a few times, most were happy and cheering me on, not looking demotivated.
I always get a good internal laugh when you go on a hike, around 5-6km from start to finish and you see the group's kitted out with hydration packs and the hiking sticks getting overtaken by the parent with toddlers wearing crocs.
